Mail server on Amazon Web services? Possible?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 10, 2010
We have our web site hosted by Go daddy and they provide us with the mail service as well. But there are a lot of constraints with the mail service with regards to the number of mail boxes, size per box, relays per user and so on.
To avoid this, we are looking at other options. One is to have our own mail server but it will require a lot of infrastructure and expertise.
But Amazon web services looks nice. They have infrastructure needed and all. One thing on my mind is the reverse look up of the mail servers. They wont be associated with the domain as both would be on different hostings.
I am open to both windows exchange server as well as Linux server.
Has anyone done this before or has any idea about it? I have gone through some of the threads in their forum and there are a lot of mixed views about it.
And main concern everyone views is the reverse lookup. This could lead to all the mails sent from my server tagged as spam at the recipient end.

Desktop and mobile web browsers and bookmark transfers
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 5, 2014
I've googled but haven't found any solution yet.
I need to be able to transfer bookmarks from my desktop to my mobile Android devices (phone and tablet for now).
I need periodic transfer (update) when I have enough new bookmarks on my desktop, to get them to my mobile devices. When I choose to do so.
I don't mind doing import export and "jump through hoops" if needed (we're Slackware users afterall )
I only need it one way for now, desktop to mobile (both ways would be a bonus but not necessary right now).
I don't want to use any sync or go through any third party online services.
It all has to happen at my place and off-line. I don't want to be dependent on anyone else!!!
My research so far shows that Firefox, Chrome, and Opera can't do it.
They all omitted the imported/export functionality in their mobile browsers for online sync.
I have not tried any other browsers for Android yet.
Anyone knows of any other browser for Android that can import F

Installing PHP5 PECL SCASDO (for web services)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 29, 2012
I'm trying to install PHP5 PECL extension SCA_SDO
Building SDO in Linux
I get as far as phpize then ./configure
but I then get this message
configure: error: xml2-config not found. Please check your libxml2 installation.
Looking at Synaptic Package Manager I do have libxml2 installed.
Any ideas on how to progress beyond this stage to build the extension sdo.so?
More background reading on SCA_SDO here ..
Since posting I've found that I need to also install libxml2-dev package.
I've now progressed a bit further down the build chain.
I'm now seeing this ..

Amazon Web Services Beginner Help

I wonder if I can ask for some help with Amazon Web Services?
I have signed up for a Amazon Web Services Account, and want to use the Free Usage Tier.
I have created an instance using the EC2 'Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS
Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS with support available from Canonical'
I can connect to my new instance with the 'Connect from your browser using the Java SSH Client (Java Required)'
I get to 'ec2-107-22-130-97.compute-1.amazonaws.com login: '
and login with the username Ubuntu as advised. I then get:

Allowing multiple users SSH access to Ubuntu instance running on Amazon Web Services
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 17, 2013
It seems as if similar questions have been asked before, but the issue that I am having hasn't been raised or answered as a part of the answers provided to the other questions. So...
I'm using an Amazon EC2 instance that is running Ubuntu, and I've already figured out how to gain SSH access with PuTTY with the "ubuntu" login. I figured I could simply do a few useradds, and in each of the home folders of the other users, add ".ssh/authorized_keys" as it was in the "ubuntu" home folder, and then SSH in using the other usernames (but the same private key) would run smoothly - this didn't happen (I got the "Server refused our key" message).
There seems to be something that I'm unaware of as to how SSH key-pairing works... any ideas?
SSH access with PuTTY using "ubuntu" as username - works fine.
Creating other users, copying ".ssh/authorized_keys" from "ubuntu" home folder to other user home folders, and SSH with same private key (login with different username) - doesn't
Converting from 32bit Linux to 64bit LInux — Amazon Web Services EC2 cloud server — Import AMI
location: linuxexchange.com - date: May 9, 2011
My client would like to upgrade from our current development 32-bit server to a much larger server running on a 64 bit platform.
I'd very much so like to just import a snapshot of my current server's AMI (the 32 bit), but I'm thinking I can't do that when moving to a 64 bit instance can I?
If I can, what about my libs? Do I need to reinstall a lot of my already installed and configured services?
