NasLite behind DevilLinux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 4, 2008
Could someone please direct me to some info.
I have a Naslite v1.x server <http://www.serverelements.com/naslite.php> with 4, 500 gig storage drives. Quit simple and easy to set up. It allows you to make use of old hardware, and boxes. It is not secure, only allowing one to use it as a home server. I set up Devil-Linux v1.4 on a somewhat older box. Simple and easy as well. I am connected to it on my home network. Installed on the Devil-Linux box, are 2 network cards. eth0 is connected to my internet (2wire is the brand name) box, and allows for network security, i.e. firewall. The eth1, I have connected to the Naslite box. I have tried for about 2 weeks to get the settings so that I can access my Naslite box through the Devil-Linux box.
Now comes my question. Is it possible to put Naslite behind this Devil-Linux box at all? I believe it may be some kind of routing problem, but I do think it is possible. As a last (kinda) resort, I am posting for some guidance.
Problems connecting to my NASlite server

Tearing my hair out here!
NASlite box hidden away, connected by ethernet via mains translink, Ubuntu 13.04 PC connected to router via ethernet.
Nautilus can see the server via smb://192.168.1.101, files are downloadable.
Copying files to the server, sometimes works, but mainly, nautilus hangs.
Into the terminal, no amount of cifs or smbfs commands will mount the server.
Trying to set up a permanent share in fstab also fails.
The whole setup worked fine about a year ago, with bash scripts doing automated copies to the server. now I'm going back to using the server, probably after a Ubuntu upgrade, I can't get it working.
