FTP Client for connecting to Windows Server
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 11, 2013
I am using Filezilla to connect to an FTP site which works fine. Teh issue comes along when I try and change permissions on these files as I get the following error message:
500 'SITE CHMOD 644 someimage.png': command not understood
Can anyone point me in the right direction of an FTP client that supports Windoze commands. I would have thought FileZilla would have supported this so it may be a configuration issue in which case I still need help!
Thanks in advance.
[SOLVED] Spice client is slow on Windows XP guest.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 12, 2013
If I connect to a Windows XP guest with a Spice client, the mouse movement is slow, not in sync.
If I use the same Spice client, and connect to a Gnome Desktop, the mouse is fast and in sync.
I've heard a tip, that a graphics tablet should be configured as default pointer in the guest OS.
How do I do that in Windows XP ?
Ubuntu 10.04, KDE4 + Freenx server + NoMachine Windows client black screen
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 23, 2010
We have a PC running 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 and KDE 4.
After discovering that VNC does not work well with KDE 4, we installed the FreeNX server. This works with a NoMachine NX client running on Windows XP with no problems.
We needed another linux PC with the same configuration. To save time we cloned the linux hard disk and installed it in another PC with identical hardware. The IP address & hostname were changed because it had to connect to the same network.
This works fine from the console.
When I try to connect to the second machine using NX, it appears to authenticate and connect but I get a black window and cursor. After a few seconds, the NX client terminates and the window is closed. It suggests that the KDE window manager is not working properly. However KDE runs up correctly from the console or when using VNC.
I can connect over SSH from another linux machine.
I tried removing and re-installing the FreeNX server - same problem.
I even tried re-installing the windo

1) copy easy-rsa files from /usr/share/doc/openvpn/examples/easy_rsa/2.0/* to /etc/openvpn/easy_rsa
2) edit in /etc/openvpn/easy_rsa/vars file the export KEY_* veriables
3) source vars && clean-all && build-ca && build.dh commands run
4) Create server.conf:

OpenVPN Client GUI for Windows 7 64Bit
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 9, 2011
I have set up my Openvpn Server in Centos and it is working fine. Windows XP clients are able to connect the OpenVPN Server and access the network. This is a customized OpenVPN Gui Client.
Now I need the customized OpenVPN Client for MS Windows 7Bit. I am using openvpn-2.1.4-install OpenVPN Client in MS Windows 7 64Bit. This is a executable and working fine in the said architecture. Now I want to compile this version. I am following the given steps at :
As per the direction i have copied the source from 2.1.4 and tried to compile, but compiled copy is giving the error " An error occurred Installing the TAP-Win32 Device Driver". I have tried this compilation by making every change and hack but all in vain.
I think that there are some certain steps which are missing and not documented any where. And sure that someone in forum will know the facts.
windows remote desktop client
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 30, 2013
I have a computer running Linux mint 15. I also recently won a surface ft from my job. I wasreading about how xrdc will allow you to share the Linux desktop to a windows machine via the Remote Desktop client. I downloaded xrdc via apt-get. It autoconfigured. I then attempted to connect via the surface. I made it to the login screen and it took my credentials. I even made it to the spalsh screen (anyone who has KDE knows what I'm talking about. IMMEDIATELY after the splash screen, before the desktop is available for use, the remote desktop client window closes. Any ideas?

Virtualbox 4.2.12, Ubuntu 13.04 as host and windows 7 as client causing kernel panics
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 26, 2013
I just upgraded my distro to Ubuntu 13.04 and my Virtualbox is throwing randomly kernel panic's. I got a suspicion that it has something to do with the wifi adapter. But can't confirm.
Is this the correct place to post this kind of issues? And if so what more information do I need to publish? Are there other people having this problem?
ps the reason why I'm working with VB 4.2 is because the version that comes with Ubuntu 13.04 also caused these kernel panic's.
VNC confusion Linux Client > Windows Host
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 6, 2011
Ok, firstly forgive me if I posted in the wrong forum, I was unsure! (this is also my firth thread on the forum, although I've lurked around for a bit!)
I just started using Ubuntu 10.10 as my main OS on my netbook, however I would like to access a few programs on my Windows Desktop but I'm having problems with the VNC server. First I tried the Real VNC Enterprise edition which was recommended to me but I noticed some people on this forum said TightVNC is the thing to use! So now I currently run that on my Desktop but I can't seem to connect to it from my Netbook. (connection times out)
Nmap reports that there is no VNC server running my Desktop, but my TightVNC says everything is up and running. Has anyone had any similar problems with VNC from Linux (client) to Windows (host) ? If so how did you work around it?
PS! Somewhat a novice Linux user here, so if you have a solution, be elaborate please!
This is just on my own LAN (for now)
Synergy windows & Ubuntu compatible versions
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 12, 2014
I've still not got my WIN 8 PC & Linux / ubnuntu (12.04 LTS), to talk to each other through Synergy.
I have googled & discovered that Synergy has different protocols / versions & you need a compatible version on each PC to use it.
QUERY: is there a (up to date) website that lists the different versions/protocols of Synergy, & you can dowbload a linux one & then click the windows one for the same protocol ?
I've checked & my windows one has a higher version/protocol to the "latest" ubuntu version.
