Need SSH client for windows
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 15, 2006
Currently, I'm using Putty on my PC to log onto a Unix server but it's driving me nuts! Some keys like delete and backspace don't work but I can use [CTRL]+H for backspace. Because of these little problems, can anyone recommand a Windows Client that allows me to use all the keys on my keyboard when I SSH into the Unix server?
Windows 7 Server Ubuntu 12.04 client, public keys being refused, please help.

Scenario, needed to log into a windows7 server running fresshd and Wincp. Need to be able to transfer files from the Ubuntu machine ( client) to the server ( windows 7) and take from server and put on the client.
Am utilizing sftp as i am able to move the files while i have password authentication enabled, however i need to turn it off and have pub key and priv keys work.
I have made them on puttygen done all the converting etc to make them the right files for openssh, however i am using freesshd i am pretty sure they use the same framework though not sure.
Either way i need to be able to use what I have currently installed. The id_dsa files are holding the public and private keys made from the puttygen on windows side. For freesshd I have moved the public key that goes with the private one into a folder on the desktop and directed it to look there for the file.
EDIT: was on nat instead of host-only when testing, do not think it matters because I still can not log in with keys but
Create a VPN solution using SSH with Linux as server and windows as client
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 28, 2012
I want to create a VPN solution using SSH encryption with Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 as server and Windows as clients (there could be many clients at the same time). As I have seen at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/ppp-ssh/index.html, its possible to create VPN using PPP-SSH but here server and client both are linux. How can I create similar kind of VPN where clients are windows? Do I need to use PPTP instead of PPP? If yes, then how to configure it on both sides? Any alternatives?
Thanks a lot!!!
SSH Linux Server w/ Windows Client
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 7, 2010
I have used Linux for a while but am relatively new to networking concepts. I am trying to set up a ssh server on my Linux box at home so I can tunnel to it from my windows box at work. All connections at work are put through a proxy.
I'm not sure where I should start. If anyone has advice on how to get started or resources for me to learn more about networking (esp. ssh) that would be great.
X forewarding via ssh tunneling with windows client
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 25, 2005
I'm trying to get ssh tunneling working correctly so that I can use X-deep/32 to run X apps from my x-server at home, from anywhere. Currently, I use putty on the windows computers, and ssh in just fine, and I check Enable X11 forewarding, but every time I try to run an X app, it says can't open display. I have X-Deep/32 running, so what exactly do I need to configure to make xterm or xclock or whatever, to realize that an X server is ready for connections?
-Thanks in advance.

Howto: create a Windows compatible (.exe) selfextracting ZIP file in Ubuntu
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 2, 2008
A few days back I had to create a Win32 compatible self-extracting ZIP file for a friend. Sounds easy, right. The problem was that I didn't have a Windows machine nearby and I didn't want to install any archiving programs under Wine.
NOTE: A freeware ZIP program such as IZArc under Wine can be used to create a Win32 self-extracting ZIP file too. That will not be covered by this howto, sorry.
Googling around I found this forum post dated August 2003. Reading it I found out that self-extracting ZIP files are nothing more but a suitable unzip binary followed by a normal ZIP file. I used the unzipsfx.exe included in Info-ZIP UnZip 5.52.
The link on that post worked a few days ago so I got my hands on the unzipsfx.exe that I was looking for. Today, 2nd July 2008 I found the link dead. After some googling I didn't find a working link anywhere. I read the licence a few times and understood that I can redistribute the original unzipsfx.exe with a license
Joining Windows Domain as Puppy Linux Client
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 26, 2009
So I have Ubuntu running sluggish but still somewhat running on my Office computer which is PIII, 256 MB RAM and 566 MHz. After consulting you guys (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195664 I decided to run Puppy Linux, whose Live CD I tried today. It was fast as was promised and was graphically nice too..
I was able to do most of the customisations I needed to, but then the big Question that was bugging me came back, and that was that how do I enter Windows Domain as a Linux user? Likewise served me well in Ubuntu but what about Puppy Linux now? There seems to be no documentation for it and that is a major headache I believe.
Please if any of you have any idea post it here.. This is the only hurdle here.. I cross it, I install Puppy Linux in those archaic computers once and for all!
Thank you all for your time
P.S. I have posted the problem in Puppy Linux forums too, but I ain't getting any replies so I decided to use the expertise of this large Ubuntu Com
