cannot connect windows xp client to linux dns server
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 7, 2009
I have successfully configured bind on an ubuntu 8 server. I also have a windows XP Pro computer networked to the server and i want to join the domain in linux from my windows box. i can successfully ping the domain name from the windows box and i get no errors when i perform a dig or a named-checkzone on the domain name in linux.
When I try to join the domain from windows i get this error message "The domain controller for domain home.com could not be contacted"
Could someone help point me to some information that could help me resolve my problem or provide suggestions on the same? Thanks.
Linux DHCP client unsuccessful on a windows DHCP served network
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 16, 2009
It seems the corporate DHCP server will accept all windows machines but not linux (in this partcular case ubuntu hardy). Unfortunately the DHCP server is not managed by us so we need to modify something on the client side (dhclient.conf maybe ?) to be successful. Has anyone had this problem on their networks already?
Windows Compatible Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 9, 2006
Are there any free distros that will allow you to run windows applications on them? My mom has an old POS system running windows 98. She doesn't have the money to get a new one so I was thinking about getting her linux. The problem is that she uses only a couple of programs for work purposes, and they require windows. She does not have the hard drive space to dual boot. I've heard a little about Voodoo being windows compatible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Linux XP; Windows Compatible distro?

Notice that a lot of those screenshots are from various distros.
Also note that the box was done in an image editor. They also do not send the box so they can " keep price to a minimum"
Check the picture of the box too. It makes me wonder as to whether or not it is a joke lol
OpenVPN Client GUI for Windows 7 64Bit
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 9, 2011
I have set up my Openvpn Server in Centos and it is working fine. Windows XP clients are able to connect the OpenVPN Server and access the network. This is a customized OpenVPN Gui Client.
Now I need the customized OpenVPN Client for MS Windows 7Bit. I am using openvpn-2.1.4-install OpenVPN Client in MS Windows 7 64Bit. This is a executable and working fine in the said architecture. Now I want to compile this version. I am following the given steps at :
As per the direction i have copied the source from 2.1.4 and tried to compile, but compiled copy is giving the error " An error occurred Installing the TAP-Win32 Device Driver". I have tried this compilation by making every change and hack but all in vain.
I think that there are some certain steps which are missing and not documented any where. And sure that someone in forum will know the facts.
email client to connect to Windows Exchange server

I'm trying to find an email client that allows me to connect to a Windows Exchanges server. the only protocol I'm allowed to use is OWA--Outlook Web Access on port 443. imap and smtp are not allowed.
Can either Thunderbird or Evolution be configured to do this?
If this has been SOLVED, please point me to the solution.

Problem with Windows XP Remote Desktop Client and Ubuntu 12.04 xrdp server
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 9, 2013
I am using Windows XP SP3 as Remote Desktop client and Ubuntu 12.04.3 xrdp server. I created .xsession file to overcome difficulties running ubuntu-3d (changed to -2d). All is fine, I can remotely run ubuntu, but after few minutes, the message is displayed in Windows:
"Remote Desktop Disconnected
Your Remote Desktop session has ended.
The connection to the remote computer was lost, possibly due to network connectivity problems. Try connecting to the remote computer again...."
The problem persists... This setup runs on company's LAN.
I am running out of ideas and ubuntu forum searches did not provide any clue. I have enabled server side logging in sesman.ini but no extra details were reviled.
How could I debug this problem?
