Need help with creating an audio CD image on Ubuntu 14.04 (64bit)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 10, 2014
I'm working on creating an audio CD as a gift for a friend. I have the Ogg and MP3 files in a playlist I can load in Brasero just fine. I can use Brasero to generate a set of CUE/BIN files and I can mount the CUE file in CDEmu just fine. The issue is getting the CUE/BIN files transferred to my Windows XP system so I can load the image into iTunes on Windows to create the CD insert.
I tried creating an ISO file, on Ubuntu, with the idea I could transfer the ISO file to the Windows system, mount it using Daemon Tools Lite or some other utility, then open the CD image in iTunes and create the CD insert. After hours of research and experimentation, it seems I can't make an ISO image from the CUE/BIN files because the ISO format won't support multiple tracks and I've got 19 tracks in the CUE/BIN files.
Any ideas how I can get the CUE/BIN files created in a way I can access on Windows XP? Daemon Tools Lite on Windows XP displays a "Unable to mount image" errors message a
Need help with dual booting Puppy Linux alongside Ubuntu 12.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 2, 2013
Okay, so I have been crawling around the forums for days now trying to find a solution to my problem. It should be noted I am fairly new to linux and will need step by step noob instructions most likely. If you need any more information from me, don't hesitate to ask. I have 2 partitions set on my rather small hdd. 4gb set for Puppy Linux at /dev/sda3 (ext3) and my main partition has Ubuntu installed /dev/sda1 (ext4). I am having trouble dual booting with puppy linux. I have installed Puppy Linux on the partitoin sda3 with a usb boot disk I created with unetbootin. After referring to this article:http://blog.kreatx.com/2011/12/16/du...x-with-ubuntu/ I followed all the steps (although had some issues with vim so i just manually edited the files) and have messed with my grub file in /boot/grub/grub.cfg (mostly changing the lines concerning Puppy Linux, changing the (hdo,msdos1) to match the lines with the msdosX to ubuntu's like the article mentioned to do) Now when I boot up I want to h
Ubuntu 10.04 is awful: Abandon or Fix, need your help?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 30, 2010
So I have been having nothing but problems with 10.04 and considering this is an LTS I am thinking of just abandoning Ubuntu but I wanted to ask around and see what others think. Admittedly this post is a bit of a rant but I also honestly asking for feedback on some of my proposed fix ideas so bear with me. I am not just trolling or lashing out.
My first problem with 10.04 was a kernel bug that caused a 60 second or so pause in bootup. I did all the work myself and some 70 or so kernel compiles later I tracked it down. See the bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/595448. But the bug report has been absolutely silent. No comment from the devs or anything. What am I supposed to do if I just hit a wall of deafening silence, especially since I provided the solution?
Next up I run in to trouble with mountall (the current bane of my existence). The maintainer for this thing is insane. He is not going to fix simple and obvious bugs in for an LTS r
Ubuntu 7.04, need help connecting other computers to net thru this cpu
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 18, 2007
Hi, I am new to Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop edition, just switched from XP pro on my desktop that also serves as my main connection to the internet through DSL. I have got my dsl connection up and running, however this desktop also serves as my server. I have two network cards, one of which is for the DSL connection (working), and the other runs to my Netgear router to share the connection with other computers/game systems on my home network(detected, but apparently not working). The problem is that I can not connect to the internet through my other computers/game systems now? I am completely new to Linux, but thus far I LOVE IT, if I can just get the hang of everything. Thank you!

Installing AX88772 drivers on Ubuntu 12.04, need help
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 24, 2012
I just successfully installed wireshark 1.8.0 on Ubuntu 12.04 (proud of myself since I cam across alot of errors and found the solution)
Anyways I am trying to get my ethernet to usb (belkin F4U047) to work with ubuntu, I know it works with ubuntu 10.04 (was using backtrack, and it was plug n play it recognized my belkin ethernet to usb). I tried couple of different ways (downloaded the drivers from asix website for 2.6 kernel and later)
whenever I typed the "make" command it gave me errors and would not make the asix.ko file to install the drivers.
Any help will be appreciated!

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 on a HP Vista notebook because this version of the distro boots up and recognizes an external HDD connected to my USB. I'm unable to mount location...
