Need Software To Manage Inventory
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 5, 2012
Can someone recommend software to automate the entry of inventory on my merchant website? I'm building a merchant website similar to an eBay store. It's basically a list of inventory with prices and descriptions, but the inventory list changes on a daily or weekly basis, it's not a static page.
The problem is that the only way I know how to do this is by updating my markup. I need software that can help me automate this by entering new data and the software will spit out a new chunk of HTML which I can then upload to my merchant site.
Large merchant websites do this through SQL databases and a custom program, and I lack both skills.

Hi. My wife and I discovered that it is much easier to get our 12 month old daughter to settle down in the evening if we have my wife's old Amy Grant tape playing in the baby's toy karaoke machine...
I also have a particular dislike for the baby monitor we use...
Hmmm, I have all of these spare parts laying around and could buy a few other parts for cheap and... yes, it just might work!
I have an old HP pavilion desktop that our neighbor gave us with a PII400 in it. I popped in a little hard drive (~3GB IIRC), 320MB of PC133, a 10/100 NIC, an old Avance (RIP) sound card, and my bt878 capture card that got displaced from our HTPC by a Hauppage unit. I invested in a pillow with speakers in it (which will be tie-wrapped to the side of the crib so she doesn't get the wire wrapped around her neck or anything), and a video camera with a microphone and infrared LED's for night vision.
To keep life a little simpler I piped the A/V output from the camera to an RF modulator which I will c
Need software for notetaking Engineering subjects
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 14, 2011
The situation: I'm doing an engineering degree.
I have a netbook that I used mind mapping software (Xmind) on to take notes during a CS degree (worked pretty well even for code snippets, and was wonderful for any humanities type elective).
Now I'm doing an engineering degree and Xmind doesn't cut it: too many diagrams and equations.
The question: is there any software I can use that does it all: text, fast diagrams, fast maths equations? It should be pretty lightweight and efficient, and free....
I'm starting to think the only possibility is a tablet with a stylus (There's another question! Anyone know a good tablet with stylus, running Linux, or possibly Android?)
I'm not really a fan of tablets (hardware keyboards rule for text/code), and doing this doesn't seem to have much of an advantage over pen & paper except for electronic storage and transport.

Last night I migrated my PC to Linux. I am scrapping XP...
I need some suggestions regarding software. I will need to setup MSN, an Email client, AutoCad type program, Graphic Editor, HTML & PHP Editor (hopefully Crimson Editor is for Linux ) and any other small Appz that are useful.

Need software to burn .MKV files to a BluRay disc
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 4, 2011
I've googled and searched here and can't come up with anything. I've got a .MKV file I want to write to a Blu-Ray and can't find software to do it. I assumed it's the same process as a DVD but I guess not. I basically need the Blu-Ray equivalent of DeVeDe. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Running Ubuntu on desktop. Do I need firewall or antivirus software?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 5, 2013
Right now I don't have any protection other than installing Ubuntu updates when they are available. Do I need to run firewall or anti-virus software? If so which software would you recommend?
