Apple app store or app store apps on ubuntu?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 28, 2012
I've been looking for this over the past week and I haven't found a single good thread on this topic. I've recently migrated from Windows 7 to Ubuntu and have found that wine is working pretty great in order to launch older windows games etc...
What I haven't figured out is that if it's possible to launch apps that I've downloaded from Apple App store (for example for iPad) on Ubuntu Linux? Let's say I have bought a book from Apple App Store for iPad and I want to launch it on my laptop which is running Ubuntu Linux; Is it possible at this point to view the same book from my laptop at all?
I know there's a project called iEmu but it seems to be at quite early stages..
This is purely curiosity on the subject what linux currently can and can not do!
So, how is it? Possible right now? Doable in the future? I'd be interested to read some answers on this topic!
I'm also extremely interested in other crossplatform projects... For example running Android phone apps via emulator on a Lin
[SOLVED] java and "app inventor" vs. Linux Mint12 (Ubuntu 11.10)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 10, 2012
Neither "java" nor "app inventor" are specific to any distro or even linux. Regardless, I cannot get "java" running in ways that satisfy the "app inventor" pages.
Can anyone help me sort this out?
I'm running Linux Mint-12 (Ubuntu 11.10) and have all of the various java packages installed. I'm trying to use the Chromium browser with MIT's "App Inventor" tools for building Android apps. I need something really trivial on my 'droid, and App Inventor seems a light weight approach to doing a prototype.
Thanks in advance,
Ubuntu One app for Windows stopped working.
location: linux.com - date: December 28, 2011
I run a Kubuntu Windows 7 Dual boot system, Ubuntu one on windows is great I keep all my homework and other important files on it. It works great for me as a cross platform cloud storage solution, I really enjoy it. I also keep all my programming code in it for later reference.
So last night I opened ubuntu one on windows 7 and got a notice about there being a update, so I updated to Ubuntu One 2.0.2 from 2.0.1 and the whole thing stopped working.
Since then I have re-installed ubuntu 2.0.2 and 2.0.1 multiple times with no luck of getting it back. I also disabled my firewall to avoid that being the issue.
Anyone having this problem with ubuntu one, or a solution to it? Let me know.
App fonts too big in Ubuntu
location: linux.com - date: May 24, 2009
I've noticed that some applications I run have huge fonts. I can fix this temporarily by selecting Appearance from the Gnome menus, and changing the DPI for fonts down by 1, then back up by 1 then re-applying, but next time I boot up they're big again.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Running a Tizen app?

How do I test a Tizen native app in the emulator?
When I try to run it in debug it gives a message saying no device found but I have a device created already.
64 bit cpu64 bit Ubuntuare there 32 bit app issues?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 2, 2008
I have 64 bit AMD cpu. Also 64 bit version of Debian. There are troubles with 32 bit application compatability.
Does Ubuntu have this problem? Will I have this problem if I use the 32 bit Ubuntu with 64 bit cpu?
Good App for Making PSX ISO Files?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 5, 2006
I'd like to back up a couple of my favorite Playstation games now that I've discovered the joy that is ePSXe (it runs them VERY WELL but not perfectly from the discs). But the 'bad block' protection used on the discs seems to brilliantly destroy my hopes with all the burning apps I've got except K3B which I can't install because of missing dependancies (I had it in Breezy and I've got all my repositories in order so I don't know why this is the case). But anyway, I have no guarantee that it would do the job either.
Gnomebaker is fooled by the protection. Gcombust dosen't even see the disc.
What other applications should I try to make some ISO's of my games? I only want to play these on my own private system. I don't intend to distribute them in any way.
ubuntu natty, canư find an app that is installed
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 30, 2011
I did the update last night because it has had a couple of months to mature but I can find no way to get to my Mahjongg game. The software center shows it to be installed but everything I have tried has failed to locate the GUI to start it.
Any hope for a dummy?
Games from Mac App Store on Linux
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 17, 2013
Two days ago I bought Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast from Mac App Store, because i didn't want pay for Windows versions of these games. I copied base folders from both games to my Linux partition with installed Ubuntu. Later, I used these projects to run these games on Linux:
They both games work very well, so you don't have to spend money on windows games, if you use Linux and Mac OS X. Do you know other games from
Mac App Store (or for Mac OS X), which you can run on Linux? In the past I used a box version of Prey for Mac OS X with a linux installer, but I didn't check, if version with Mac App Store works with a Linux installer.
