Dual boot grub problem. No menu, only command prompt after #set timeout. + xp home
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 2, 2013
Hi, I'm new to Ubuntu and I am having a frustrating problem with dual boot. I installed 12.10 on an old AMD, ATI system, sata hard disk with Windows xp home already on the other partition. When I boot the computer, it goes straight to Ubuntu. I looked into how to get the Grub menu and found a setting called 'set timeout' which according to advice from other posts I had to comment out to get the menu. Now all that happens is the 'Grub>' command prompt appears. I don't know how to progress.
All I want is when the computer boots up to present me with a list of the two operating systems so I can select which one to boot into! Before I changed the grub text I tried the 'Shift' button, however, that didn't work. All that happened was 'grub loading' appeared in the top left for a second or two then vanished and booted straight into Ubuntu. Is there a command one can type at the Grub> prompt which will allow the pc to boot up so I can at least change that 'timeout' setting back
Minimal Bash Command Line after reinstalling Grub
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 22, 2014
I recently installed ubuntu alongside my Windows 8. Grub failed to load so I was told you try boot-repair. I reinstalled grub as suggested. However, it seems to have corrupted my partion and I'm unable to load into Ubuntu or Windows now.
When I boot on top of screen it says "GNU Grub version ....."(approximately)
then it says "Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.(also says about Tab)"
then grub prompt.
I really really appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.
Here is the bootinfoscript if it helps:

No wifi or drivers after installing zorin os 9 on dell inspiron 1525
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 5, 2015
So I installed Zorin OS 9 as I heard its pretty good. Only to find that after I installed it I only have wierd internet there is no wifi. It is currently updating now (4/1/15 at 13:30) however I installed it before and while updating it seem to crash. I mean it brings up an error message about a problem it found and then the whole system seems to be skipping between the look changer and between zorin an ubunto. I had to reinstall it all over again.
I am open to any valid suggestions as having my modem next to my laptop seems so retro and why have wifi and cant use it right???...
I am somewhat new to linux tried it before but had trouble installing windows in a shell to use while having linux as my main OS. (would appreciate any advice I can get on that as well).
However for now... How do I get my WIFI up an running for my dell inspiron 1525 on the distro zorin os 9 core?
I am trying a few things myself... just hope it does not crash again..
Windows7 will not boot after installing Zorin OS 5
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 26, 2011
I had been dual booting Windows7 Ultimate 64 bit and Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit for a few weeks with no issues. I recently deleted Ubuntu and installed Zorin Ultimate 64 bit to give it a try. Now Windows is not booting up. It shows up on the GRUB as "Windows 7 loader (on /dev/sda1)" but when I select it I just get a promt and nothing else happens. I'm including the output of boot_info_script.sh. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can offer. By the way, I'm pretty new to Linux.

install but no OS after reboot
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 9, 2012
It is the first time I subscribe to a Forum. I do not know how to use it. I am trying to install ubuntu server on an hp proliant dl 120 g7 but after installing and booting it wouldn't enter to the graphical operative system. It displays an error FD0 read error or something. I've tried it with Linux Enterprise and Fedora as well but didn't succeed as well. Could you please help me or refer me to someone else who could be helpful?
Thank you kindly.
