Full error
No package 'x11' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables X11_CFLAGS
and X11_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
I am getting this while trying to install Alian Arena. I'm still new to Ubuntu and have tried searching here and on google and couldn't find anything so forgive me if this is a nooby question which has been answered before. I am btw running Ubuntu 11.04
No syslinux configuration file found
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 2, 2011
When trying to boot a USB disk image of either 10.10 or 10.04 I get an error saying that no syslinux configuration file could be found and "syslinux error: No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found.".
The USB disk was created using the Startup Disk Creator on Maverick.
I'm guessing the second error is just caused by the first, since the syslinux.conf definitely isn't there. Thing is, I've used the 10.04 image before and it's worked fine, so I'm starting to think it's the Startup Disk Creator that's at fault.
Any ideas?
Error displaying connection information: No valid active connections found!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 10, 2008
Hi
Yesterday I tried to use "xnetcardconfig" to setup my wired network yesterday, today when i turned on my computer i found the icon of network manager showing x like no connection , right click on the icon and select "connection information" an error message appeared saying:
Error displaying connection information:
No valid active connections found!
Right click on the icon again and select "Edit connections"
i found my connection "eth0" gone , nothing was there , the add button is activated.
Now i have no problem in my network, i tried browsing the net through Firefox and its OK ,torrent is working also, but i just want to fix the network manager problem to work like before.
I tried to reinstall the packages : network-manager-gnome and network-manager, then restart the system but without success.
Any help will be appreciated.
No valid active connections found!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 7, 2009
I did an upgrade on version 8.04 to 8.10 recently and everything works, but I got a weird bug on my networks manager. When I click connection information, I get this error:
Error displaying connection information:
No valid active connections found!
But I have a connection and I can browse the net and everything. When I left click, I can see the wired network cards all grayed out. When I right click and click edit connections, I see nothing listed under the wired tab. What's up here?
11.10 Network: No valid active connections found!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 15, 2011
I upgraded to 11.10 last night and things worked fine for a while but now I have lost my network connection. If I attempt to display connection information I get "No active connections found". /etc/network/interfaces looks fine. Network Tools finds the interface and says the state is "active" but link speed is "not available". I tried booting from a live cd and the network works fine. I've rebooted several times now. I tried re-installing the network manager - no change.
I'm not sure if this is an 11.10 upgrade problem or not but am not keen to re-install if I can avoid it. It sort of feels like it is something simple - like I disabled networking at a different (unknown to me) level or something while flailing around with the new system?
IP/DNS problem? Ubuntu server+desktop = "no valid net connections found"
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 25, 2009
hi all,
i'm a server newbie. i set up a box with ubuntu DNS/Firewall server per the excellent instructions @ http://linuxgazette.net/141/lazar.html. Great article Shane! The ubuntu 9.1 desktop connected to the server says "no valid network connections found" and the live network icon does not appear on the upper right hand corner. But! when i run ethtool eth0 in the terminal I get "Link detected: yes". I can ping the server and other boxes in my network. I cannot ping the internet. I can ping the internet from the DNS server and another server behind the firewall. thank u!

Java No JVM or JRE found
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 23, 2013
Hi!
I'm new to Ubuntu and I thought that Java would be a good thing have. So I tried installing it. (Using Terminal). Then "java -version" worked so I thought I'd better try Minecraft. It didn't work. Grr. Came up with this error message:
No JVM could be found on your system. Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME to point to an installed 32-bit JDK or JRE or download JRE from www.java.com.
Then I tried a Java applet: http://mainline.brynmawr.edu/Courses...ey/Smiley.html. And guess what? It works.
What do I do?
