Watching amazon instant videos
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 1, 2013
I am not able to search, so apologize if this has been discussed.
I am running 12.10 and have the latest updates. I tried to rent a video from amazon's instant video. I got an error about the flashplayer not being up to date.
Is it possible to watch amazon instant videos on ubuntu?
It would be kind of funny if we can't, since ubuntu made that deal with amazon.

MythTV on nvidia dual screen will not open videos on TV
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 4, 2008
I have nvidia dual screen spanning across my monitor and TV screen. MythTV opens on the TV and I'm still able to use the monitor. MythTv plays back recorded shows and watches TV on the TV. However when I open up videos, they open on the monitor. I have played around with mplayer command line flags but cannot get mythTV or mplayer by itself to open up the mplayer window on the TV.
I have searched and found one thread, but no solutions,
Cannot play mp4 videos after Ubuntu 11.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 15, 2011
I used to be able to play mp4 videos on Ubuntu 64-bits 11.04 (e.g. http://video.ted.com/talk/podcast/20...nick_2011X.mp4), but after installing 11.10, when I try to open a video such as this one, Ubuntu tells me I need the codec "Desmultiplexador Quicktime", which it can't find and so I can no longer play mp4 files like this one.
Can you help?

I have an ATI Radeon HD 6850 (BARTS) and I'm running the latest Catalyst drivers on 12.04 (x64). The OS's GUI seems to be snappy and smooth, nor do I have any other problems. What can I do to fix this?
Lag in videos, animations, games, other programs
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 21, 2013
Somewhat recently, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my old desktop PC. For the most part it works fine, but any time I try to play any videos or flash animations of any sort, or when I run certain programs (games, Skype, etc.) the whole system bogs down with immense lag. I've been grappling with this problem for over a week now, going on two. I've tried different graphics drivers, I've tried both Unity 2d and 3d, I've tried toggling various options in both CompizConfig's Settings Manager as well as Nvidia's X Server Settings, and nothing seems to work. I'm really starting to lose my mind here.
My PC's stats are as follows:
Processor: AMD Athlon 3200+
RAM: 2.5 gig
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS
Someone please help me before I rip all of my hair out!
Youtube videos don't work in Chromium damned HTML5
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 1, 2010
Some time ago - month or so - Chromium started to use HTML5 on Youtube. I like this except this completely doesn't work. I see black sqare, HTML logo and video never starts.
I'm using nightly builds and update Chromium every day hoping one day this will work. But time passes, nothings is changing.
Any ideas how to use YouTube.com in Chromium? How to switch back on Flash?

[SOLVED] Hardware/graphic card powerful enough to play 1080p videos
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 13, 2011
I'm trying to make my desptop playing some 1080p videos.
Mainly .mkv files (8/12GB each).
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be powerful enough.
The CPU gets to 100% and the videos don't play smoothly.
They all get played jerkily...
(I've seen VLC 1.1.11 using 110% of my CPU - not sure whether it's multi threaded or not -
but still it couldn't play the 1080p videos).
Tried many other video player... no luck.
My computer has the following specs:
OS: Ubuntu 10.04
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.20GHz
MB: Asus P5VD2-X
GPU: GeForce 7300 (128MB dedicated / 512MB shared - PCI-E 16x)
RAM: 4GB (3GB available)
Now, I consider the graphic card to be the bottle neck here,
because if it was more powerful it wouldn't bother the CPU so much (correct me if I'm wrong),
so I was thinking of replacing it with something like:
Nvidia Geforce 8400GS 1GB DDR3 - Gainward (29 euros - http://www.shoptec.it/browse/item/fn0690)
Nvidia Geforce GF210 1GB DDR3 -
Sound delay in flash? (youtube videos, games, etc)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 14, 2012
I've recently installed ubuntu 11.1 on my pc, dual booted with windows 7
I've installed flash player and anything that uses flash will have a 2-3 second sound delay. For example I'm on youtube, I play a video; whilst the video plays immediately the sound starts about 2 seconds later, if I were to adjust the volume it would adjust 2 seconds after I've changed it, if I pause the video the video pauses immediately but the sound takes an extra 2 seconds to stop. This goes for flash games to.
Anything that doesn't use flash, e.g. music on my computer etc... syncs perfectly fine.
I have literally gone trough every single post I could find on google and they have all the same issue's as me but no solution to it
Does any one have any idea how to fix this?
(my main browser is google chrome but the bug is in all web browsers / anything that uses flash)
