Opera Browser always starts with upgrade page
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 17, 2013
I'm experiencing a strange issue with the Opera browser, which is otherwise awesome (x64, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS). For some reason, when I close out all of the browser windows and restart Opera, I am always greeted with the end user license agreement and the "thanks for upgrading" startup screen. This is really annoying because Opera needs to be configured by hand to play nice with certain sites that I use a lot (e.g., gmail). Has anyone else run into this problem who can point me towards a solution?
Emacs only starts with nw after upgrade to 13.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 25, 2013
After today's upgrade from Kubuntu 12.10 to 13.04, Emacs only starts with "emacs -nw". It's the same for both emacs23 and emacs24. I have tried running with --live-safe-mode and --debug-init, but there's simply no output, and nothing happens. I also tried to purge and reinstall emacs, but no change. What can I do?
[SOLVED] Downloaded complete web page with wget but browser wants internet to open page?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 11, 2012
I downloaded a web page with wget like this:
wget wget -E -H -k -K -p http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRS_connector
It seemed to go well but when I go offline and open the local page I downloaded Firefox tries to acces the internet from "bits.wikimedia.org". Why did wget not work properly? I've read the wget manual and can't see what I'm missing. I need this page sometimes when I'm not on line. Thanks in advance.

addaptrepository always fails with ssl error 12.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 7, 2013
I have what was a clean desktop install of ubuntu 12.04. No matter what repository I try to add add-apt-repository always fails with ssl error - example:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 125, in <module>
ppa_info = get_ppa_info_from_lp(user, ppa_name)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/softwareproperties/ppa.py", line 84, in get_ppa_info_from_lp
pycurl.error: (60, 'server certificate verification failed. CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt CRLfile: none')
ls -al /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 100356 Jan 24 16:41 /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt
I have tried to reinstall/reconfiger ca-certificates but that does not seem to be the issue so I am lost
Updating certificates in /etc/ssl/certs... 0 added, 0 removed; done.
Running hooks in /etc/ca-certificates/update.d....
Unity Google Chrome always starts maximized
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 8, 2011
I have the latest Natty installed, with Unity running. I installed Google Chrome, put a shortcut in the launcher but, everytime I start it, it starts maximized, which is very annoying.
From my observations, every-other application starts in normal way (un-maximized) except Chrome. I can't seem to find a solution for this. I even tried to change settings for the "Place Windows" Compiz plugin, but nothing happened.
Anyone else has this problem?
[SOLVED] Remove Opera Browser on Ubuntu 11.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 8, 2011
I uninstalled Opera browser from my system (Ubuntu 11.10) via Synaptic and deleted the '.opera' folder on 'Home' directory but it is still showing on applications installed. When I click on it, it launches the browser and recreates the '.opera' folder on 'Home' directory, but there is no such Opera file in any 'usr' sub-directory.
Pls how can I completely remove this browser from my system?

Kernel crashes when loading Xorg with fglrx Page 2
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 28, 2009
Okay I tried xorg with a merge of your configuration and mine and your configuration alone - exactly the same results.
It is now obvious to me that the problem is within the FGLRX driver, the Kernel and/or the Xorg program, but not the Xorg configuration file.
Are there any more config files I should know about?
UPDATE: I found an error in boot.log with fglrx installed that does not happen without fglrx -> something with DKMS:
