paramiko.SSHException: Error reading SSH protocol banner
location: linuxexchange.com - date: October 9, 2013
I am using Paramiko and trying to connect to my SFTP server. Here is the code I wrote:
def __init__(self, host, username, password, port):
transport = paramiko.Transport((host, port))
transport.connect(username = username, password = password)
self.sftp = paramiko.SFTPClient.from_transport(transport)
I can connect to my server from the terminal. This thread didn't help since our scenario is different.
Why i am getting “Paramiko : Error reading SSH protocol banner” in below code? What is the solution for it?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: June 16, 2015
I have function in python,(Assume that i have imported all necessary module),
This function is actually a thread,
This function is actually a thread and it will be created as many no of UE i have, (Ex: if i have 1 UE than 1 Thread will be created),
So, if i have 1 UE/ 2 UE than its working but if i have 3 UE then it is failing, with error "Paramiko : Error reading SSH protocol banner",
Below is the stderr of the script,
No handlers could be found for logger "paramiko.transport"

I'm using nautilus to transfer files over SSH and keep getting this error:
It first started happening after transferring 4GB of a 33.4 GB file. It has since been happening frequently after 2-500MB of 551MB files. It's gotten to the point I can't transfer them anymore. This is all over the course of 1 day btw, I haven't installed any new software.
The SSH 'server' I'm pulling the files from is a Windows Vista Ultimate Laptop with copSSH installed. The client is an ubuntu netbook remix netbook computer. I am connecting them over a private network I've setup. It's a linksys WRT54G router with the vista computer connected to ethernet and the ubuntu netbook is wireless. They are the only 2 computers connected to the router and there's no internet access. I have forwarded port 22 and optimized the speed by using the QOS options in the router and set it to G-only. I even tried changing the wireless channel thinking it might be getting interference from something, which didn't seem to
I/O error Error reading boot cd.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 11, 2008
Well I'm totally new to Ubuntu and Linux. I'm fed up with Windows and looking for a good alternative. Anyways I consider myself decently skilled with computers, fairly good with a couple programming languages, fluent in php, built my own pc, etc. Anyways I downloaded the ISO ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386 and used InfraRecorder to burn it to a CD, but when I boot up my computer with the cd in the tray it comes up to the ubuntu menu, then no matter what I select (Install, Try Out, Check for Errors, etc) it says I/O Error, Error reading boot cd and gives me a button that says Reboot. I've tried burning the cd on 2 different computers with 3 different drives, 3 different ISO burning applications (InfraRecorder, MagicISO, and ISORecorder), on 4 different disks (1 Memorex CD-R, 3 Pengo CD-RW's), and 2 seperate downloads of the ISO. Yet all end up with the same error. So I'm asking, what could I be doing wrong and what should I try?
Oh I forgot this computer that I'm trying to install on has th

FreeFontPath error when ssh forwarding X, entire desktop
- date: May 31, 2008
I am trying to ssh from my laptop into my desktop. I can ssh into the desktop just fine, but when I try to forward the entire X desktop after hitting CTRL+ALT+F1 OR F2 and input this command:
xinit -e ssh -XCT [email protected]
gnome-session -- :1
I get this error:
Waiting for X server to shut down FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/x11/misc"
refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing
Before I get the error the screen on the laptop flickers a few times.
The desktop is running Ubuntu 8.04 and the laptop is using Xubuntu 8.04 with IceWM, not XFCE.
I have done allot of searching on this error and "FreeFontPath" and I really haven't been able to find anything that pertains to my problem.
I looked in the xorg.conf files of both computers and neither of them had any font references and I also looked for the "/usr/share/fonts/x11/misc" directory, and that directory doesn't exist on either computer.
So what is going on here? Am I
Error for SSH login: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer
- date: February 9, 2012
While logging in via ssh:
sudo ssh [email protected]
I got the following error: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer
I went through many google search results. But I could not find an appropriate solution.
Then I uninstalled ssh and openssh-server using(Mark for Removal) Synaptic Package Manager and reinstalled it.
Still the same error. I noticed that the config files in /etc/ssh remained after uninstallation.
Now I selected "Mark for Complete Removal" in Synaptic Package Manager.
New configuration files were created while reinstalling ssh and openssh-server.
Login successful !

rsync server error on ssh
- date: January 19, 2011
I have a problem with my rsync server when trying to sync over ssh.
Ive reconfigured ssh to use port 581 and use the following rsync command as googled,
rsync -azvv -e "ssh -p581" srcfolder/ [email protected]
and i get
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(600) [sender=3.0.6]
When i use it without SSH it works like a charm and except for rsync SSH works as it should.
Sever is running Ubuntu 10.04.
