Free Online Photo Editing, GIMP & some other stuff...
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 26, 2008
During my ongoing transition (over a year now) to Ubuntu, I'm still learning new things; in particular, how I should look at software, and how it relates to the whole Linux experience.
Previously I'd use PhotoShop Elements to edit my photos. I started doing some research online because I was trying to look up how to run PSE using Wine. But the more I did my research, the more I came across one universal question which sprouted it's ugly (because it's a reality I have to deal with now) head : If you want your pc to run Windows app's, then why not keep Windows?
A valid question. Unfortunately it means I have to look at alternatives now, because I honestly don't see the point in running Windows software when there are alternatives.
So you research Ubuntu + photo editing, and of course....GIMP comes up. Seems like a decent enough program (based on the reviews I've read). I tried running it but it's a bit overwhelming at first. Maybe it's the fact that I'm more accustomed to PSE or
Best photo app for Django to sell photos online [closed]
location: linuxexchange.com - date: November 2, 2010
I have a client who is an events photographer and they want to be able to sell photos online. The major differences from personal photo apps would be:
Need to upload 100s of photos at a time
Easy ability to tag photos by event name in batches (prior to upload or after)
Integration with PayPal
Does anyone know of an existing app that would be suitable? If not, do you think I should try to adapt something like photologue or start from scratch?

LUMOSITY online braingames do not refresh screen.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 16, 2012
There is this website called LUMOSITY where you can run web based brain-games.
Some of the games do not refresh the screen, I have to refresh screen manually as to move the scroll bar up and down.
I am running Ubunu 11.04 Classic, I tried Ubuntu 11.10 also, I tried both Google Chrome and Firefox, same problem. Their website says both browsers supported, they not specify OS.
The games run just fine on Windows 7 with IE or FireFox.
I contacted Lumosity's tech support - sigh - this genius says:
"If possible, could you run another Linux Distribution in order to see if the site doesn't suffer from the refresh issues?
Miguel" - try new brain Miguel.
Is there any suggestions to fix it in Ubuntu?
Thanks in advance!
[SOLVED] Desktop restarts while online using website
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 27, 2013
I have a new build: Gigabyte A55m-ds2/A4-3300/8gb Mushkin radioactive/seagate 1 TB/Liteon cd/dvd/AntecBasiq 430w with
Linux Mint 14 Mate 64bit running. Been running this new build about a month.
Everthing was working fine till I went to Bestbuy.com website
researching laptops and Chromebooks. After several minutes of
looking at what was available my desktop went black for several seconds and I get a desktop login screen as if someone pushed ctrl/alt/backspace to reset the desktop. After logging back in
I get a crash report I think from firefox and giving me options to stop trying to access the pages that were open at the time of the crash. Just wondering what's going on and why a website would crash Firefox. Bestbuy access seems to be the only cause of the desktop restart. I tried restarting without stopping any of the sites from loading twice with same results then tried to select sites one at a time to trouble shoot to see which one was causing but things became so sensit
