Eclipse not starting > manual install , JavaVM Version: 1.6 > Debian Lenny
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 18, 2011
Hey guys!
I searched the forum but I didn't find anything useful that would help me with my weird problem.
I installed Eclipse dozens of times but I never had this kind of problem.
This is what I am doing:
I am trying to run Eclipse via SSH Xforward on my Vserver (Debian Lenny - 64 BIT System, no local access). I have the JavaVM 1.6 installed (jdk and jre). I downloaded the 64 Bit Version of "Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers (includes Incubating components)" from the official Eclipse HP. I extracted the .tar file to my home folder (/home/username/eclipse/)!
XForwarding does WORK (tested with Xclock / etc.)!
Now I connect via SSH with the -X command, go to my eclipse folder and start eclipse (./eclipse). It starts to load for a couple of seconds and then just quits without any errors...!
Ok..so I tried the -vm command (./eclipse -vm /usr/bin/java) - same as before.
./eclipse -debug gives me the following:

Pidgin is stucked in version 2.4.3 in Debian Lenny

Nvidia driver w/Debian Lenny, gcc version problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 1, 2009
Apparently the Lenny kernel was compiled with gcc 4.1. The driver from Nvidia that is trying to build a module was built with 4.3. Therefore, the driver refuses to install. I can try and install 4.1, but the driver still only sees 4.3. Suggestions?

Hi guys! Help me, can i use all packages in Debian 5 Lenny DVDs (1-6) without any problem in my Ubuntu Server 10.04? For example using apt-cdrom and apt-update, apt-install xxxx ?. Would't affect these actions for potential errors?
Thank in advance.

Dear community,
i am a new member to linuxquestions, unfortunately i have a huge problem and would like to hear your opinion on this.
My Debian Lenny root server was hacked last night. I already searched through several posts and spent some hours with investigating how the hacker came in and what he actually did.

4x2TB drives in software RAID5 in Debian Lenny
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 2, 2010
Hi,
I'm about to hang myself... :-(
My goal is the following:
Software RAID 5 on 4 2TB caviar green disks. Then 12 partitions or about 500GB, and finally LVM to use the partitions as pv, and create some vg for my needs.
My disks are /dev/sda to /dev/sdd
I boot on /dev/sde which is an sd card
My doing (and at the end, my issue):
Code:
[SOLVED] Sound card works on Ubuntu, on Windows, but only sporadically on Debian Lenny
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 13, 2010
My intended main system is a debian Lenny (kernel 2.6.26-2), but I have also a ubuntu (9.something I guess, kernel 2.6.22) and windows 7 on the same pc.
The sound card is a VIA VT1708B.
The weird thing is, it works normally in Windows, apparently normally in Ubuntu (I don't recall if I have the correct control over volume; more on that later), and only every now and then with Debian Lenny.
Apparently, rebooting from ubuntu increases the odds of it working on Lenny, but may be just a fluke.
I had also in the same PC another Lenny install, that one was installed initially from either netinstall or CD image, and I went on installing "everything" from the command line, as it couldn't install any X/DE (apparently it was having some quarrels with the onboard ethernet).
On that install, the sound was working consistently, the only problem was that I didn't have volume control in the correct, conventional manner. Kmix (KDE's volume control) didn't have "PCM"
