Songs purchased on Ubuntu One Music Store fail to play on iPod
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 10, 2010
I had my mother purchase an album on the Ubuntu One Music Store in 10.10 for me, since it was kind of a gift from last Christmas. It downloaded fine (albeit with a browse to my Ubuntu One storage account from FF), and it synced fine, but when I go to play any of the songs on my iPod Nano 3G, the progress bar that shows how finished the song is while playing is stuck at 0:00. Anybody know what the problem is? And please try to reply, not just glance and leave.

LXer: 10 most popular Ubuntu sites on the net

In a previous post, I had written how I solved certain problems in Ubuntu like getting support for proprietary file formats. That post may or may not be helpful to many. But for me, it is definitely useful because, in a situation where I want to re-install Ubuntu on my machine, I just have to pull up my blog page and I can come up to date in very little time. The alternative being having to spend valuable time searching on the net or forums all over again.

Having said that, I think credit has to be given where it is due. So here I have put together a collection of sites which are dedicated to Ubuntu Linux and where one can find a wealth of information on general topics or accomplishing a particular task in Ubuntu.

Digg Story
Wikimedia traffic analysis...Ubuntu 70 times more popular than Mint?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 1, 2012
So Mint apparently is the most popular distro according to Distrowatch (and has been for sometime now)...but something seems VERY wrong with those stats. Ubuntu has/had such a huge market share of Linux that for Mint to overtake Ubuntu, one of two things had to happen...(1) Ubuntu users had to jump ship en masse, which judging by this forum/IRC/news activity has not been the case, or (2) Mint is attracting millions of new users to Linux, which considering they do no marketing whatsoever, that would be hard to believe.
So I check out the monthly Wikimedia stats, which are probably are much more reliable way of measuring popularity...and, excluding Android and "Linux Other", Ubuntu is 24 times more popular than the 2nd place distro (Fedora) and 70 times more popular than Mint. Below, I only listed distros that registered at least 0.01% of the requests.
Distro Requests Percent
Ubuntu 1,004 M 0.71%
Fedora 49.1 M 0.03%
How to transfer iTunes music to Ubuntu?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 3, 2012
I'm pretty new to Ubuntu. I've tried it before, loved it, and plan on replacing win7 with it, just wanted to move all my music over there. The problem is, 80% of my music was bought on iTunes, meaning they're .m4a's. These are all on my current windows 7 machine. I was wanting to put all of this on Ubuntu, and I was wondering what the best way to move all of it over would be. The two problems that I am worried about is 1.) That Banshee, RythymBox, etc. will not accept .m4a's, and 2.) How to do the actual transfer part of this.
Sorry if this sounds kind of dumb, this is my first post, and if there's already a thread for this, could you please post a link to it?

Ubuntu ? Kubuntu ? Xubuntu ? Mythbuntu ? (for music studio)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 23, 2009
Hi all, sorry about the possibly weird thread title but I didn't know how to express my need in few words.
I have a machine with 2 sound cards, both M-Audio (Delta DiO and Audiophile) for music recording/mixing. I tried Ubuntu-Studio recently, and I liked it, however I couldn't get everything to be functional (recording crashed).
Now with the release of 9.04, I'm considering re-installing everything. However, what *buntu variant should I install ? Is there anyone of them better suited for music creation ?
Thanks for your advice !
Why is Mageia so all of a sudden popular?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 1, 2012
Wow Magiea is receiving as many hits per day as the wildly successful and popular Ubuntu (2,100 hits per day) on Distrowatch yet there's barely any activity in this sub forum for it. What gives? Why is Magiea so all-of-a-sudden popular anyway? What does it have that Ubuntu doesn't?
