xubuntu installation ubuntu and xp problems thereafter
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 1, 2008
I tried asking this on ubuntuforums, and they just flat out ignored me, so please help me.
after installing xubuntu, Im unable to use XP or my original Ubuntu installation.
when GRUB is loading, all operating systems it lists says ubuntu.
when I choose anything but the first "ubuntu" (xubuntu), theyre unable to load. If I choose sda1 (XP), it says unable to mount. If I choose sdb1 (ubuntu), it comes to a root terminal after loading for a bit, and says I have to manually repair it... or something.
what do I do?
sda1 - Windows XP
sdb1 - Ubuntu
sdb3 - Xubuntu
no idea why there isnt an sdb2
I decided to run fsck on sdb1, and it said it could cause severe file damage... so I didnt want to chance it.
I installed xubuntu on the same harddrive as ubuntu, but two partitions. I installed it on / just like ubuntu. can I not install two operating systems on / ?

location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 30, 2012
Ever since I installed Zorin 6 Lite on my laptop, I've experienced repeated crashes with shockwave flash player, no matter what browser I try to use. I've tried every reinstallation I can think of, but to no avail! Adobe Flash's website say they are not going to support any new versions for Linux. VOT GIFS??

This is my first post on the ubuntu forums so please forgive me.
I'd like to preface this by saying I am not a novice CPU user. I have had a computer with internet access since 1990 when I was 9 years old. Which gives me almost 20 years of computer usage (successful and non-successful.) My first experiences with errors and configurations started mostly without the help of those on the internet. Running Dos and then later windows 3.1 and 3.11 and on and on until XP professional. I have finally been converted to the ubuntu way. While the learning curve is a little steep at my age I am trying my hardest. So far I like a lot of features ubuntu has to offer. However, I am experiencing several problems that may have come from my fiddling with it or may not.
I am running ubuntu 9.04 with only winehq as an added feature. i have 100GB of my 500 GB sata partitioned to ubuntu and the other 400 partitioned to windows xp

[SOLVED] Problems with wifi after upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 2, 2012
My wifi was working perfectly on Ubuntu 12.04, but after a Web upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10 the wifi to my Windows network takes ages to connect and after a while disconnects and requires a reboot to get it going again.
Is there a simple solution to this?
Ubuntu Server guest (HyperV) blank screen/initramfs problems
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 20, 2012
Hi all. I've asked help about this in the Hyper-V forums but I thought I'd ask here too for insights, as we couldn't come up with a solution.
I'm trying to set up an Ubuntu server guest on an MS Server 2012 Hyper-V host. I've tried both 12.10 and 12.04 but I've faced various issues with both releases. The host machine is a completely fresh installation. The guest machine is also a completely fresh installation of ubuntu server (no gui) with openssh server and LAMP. Nothing else, the only configuration is of a static IP address.
The first issue is the guest getting stuck during installation with either a blinking cursor or a completely blank screen. There seems to be some cpu usage, fluctuating between 0-30%, but no change even after an hour. This is rare but it happened with both 12.10 and 12.04. Rebooting the guest and restarting installation solved the problem.
The second issue is a blank screen on boot. Grub flashes for half a second and then the guest's screen goes blank.
