qbittorrent causing high CPU usage from process mount.exfat
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 18, 2013
Hi, I have a strange problem here. I have Slackware 14.1 installed its multi-lib on a 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I also have Windows 8 on a 1tb wd black( only for when my nephew comes over so we can play all the latest pc games, otherwise it would be all slack). I have 2 other wd black 1tb drives and a 2tb external usb 3.0 drive all three drives are formatted with exfat( don't ask why, just one of my bright ideas). Anyways, when I do filecopy operations from drive to drive I get about 3%-15% cpu usage on the exfat volumes, compared to 4%-6% on the ntfs volume, which I can live with. But when I launch qbittorrent while downloading (verizon fios 75mbps) I get 80%-100% cpu usage and it actually seems to be limiting my overall download speed because of this to a measly 5MBPS (that's megabytes not bits). So this is not the actual qbittorrent process having high cpu usage but the fuse exfat process having extremely high cpu usage only when downloading in that program. Googled this for hours can'
high cpu usage on process "event/0"
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 18, 2006
I'm running SuSE 10.1 RC1 on an advent 7093 (Intel Core Duo T2300 w/ nvidia geforce go 7400) and have a process showing in 'top' called "event/0" that has approx. 90% cpu usage...constantly!
Does anyone know what this process is and how I can stop it from overloading my system?
How to reliably get current process CPU usage from command line
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 1, 2012
OK. So I have been googling a lot, also this forums, but I still do not have answer for a presumably easy question.
How to reliably get current CPU usage by a process.
I do not mean ps command below - because it returns an average CPU usage in whole process lifetime. I need a snapshot of current usage.
extremely high CPU usage by opera plugin wrapper process
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 11, 2009
I am wondering how opera plugin wrapper uses +80% of cpu time even when opera is idle. Anyone see same problem?
I am using Karmic 32 bits, core2due cpu and opera 10.00.
[Solved Flash plugin beta] What is "exe" process? High CPU usage
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 1, 2009
Anyone know what this process is?
"exe".. I've seen it stuck at 100% cpu usage at times in the past.
I killed it and it came back a few hours later w/ high cpu usage again as you can see in the screen shot.
What is this?

High CPU usage
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 22, 2012
I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit on my DELL Latitude D620 and the CPU usage is really high even when I do nothing. Both processors are never below 75% of usage.
If I see the processes there is only firefox which is taking about 10%, compiz 2%, skype 3% gnome system monitor 8%, xorg 10% and then all the other processes 0%...
The computer is always slow due to high cpu usage... Even as soon as It starts. it often get stuck and it takes forever to open new firefox or opera tabs...

Using ubiquity 3D environment
When playing videos in Totem or VLC, the compiz cpu is pretty high (around 80% CPU usage for compiz for one core).
If anyone has any advice, please share

Samba High CPU usage?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 8, 2010
I am a little stuck with how to reduce my SMBD cpu usage.
When a user connects to their home directory over samba, each instance of smbd seems to be using a fair amount of CPU.
Is there anything I can do to improve/reduce this?
After doing some research I've tried reducing my logging level, but to no real effect. Clients are all Mac based.
I've attached an image of my top readout here.
Also I'm running 10.04 desktop as a server at the moment.
Some background on the hardware I have.
/home storage is all on hardware raid5 array (3ware 9550sx), CPU's are dual 3.06 xeon (p4 style) and2Gb memory. On the network I am currently 10/100 between the clients and switch and a gigabit to the switch.
The attached screenshot is with only 2 users connected pushing fairly big files. Both Mankit and Alex are using 17% and 20% respectively.
Also my SMB.conf looks like this:
