qrencode vcard format issues with address
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 26, 2012
I'm trying to generate a qrcode with qrencode. It kind of works, however, when I scan it with my tablet and try to view it on a map, a number of locations appear (including the right one). The problem is the "XXX house" in the address line. If I remove it, it locates our company on the map straight away. Unfortunately, the house specification is required. Any ideas?

Issues with Postfix Sending Mail to Certain Address and VPS Server
- date: May 26, 2013
So here's my issue: I have a domain with namecheap.com (bitknight.com) where I have paid for their email services, so I check my mail using their web portal. I also have a VPS at digital ocean that has the proper DNS records for resolution to point to my VPS, and mail setup which I have confirmed with standard emailing between another account and the bitknight.com account. Everything their seems to work fine. On the VPS I have postfix installed and it works fine to send emails to all other addresses except my email which is [email protected]
, so attempting to have PHP and Ruby scripts send me logging messages at this address is currently failing. I suspect something in my main.cf is not appropriately setup, but I'm not sure what exactly. I'm concerned as I add domains to route to this server I will encounter the same problem with many email addresses associated with it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Backtrack (Ubuntu based) having issues with ruby, gem etc for Metasploit
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 20, 2013
Backtrack 5r3 (Ubuntu based linux) running Metasploit framework.
Did a "msfupdate" command and msfconsole stopped working.
I read some things online, tried to fix it and only ended up making things much worse.
I am now having issues with Ruby, gem etc.
I will post a bunch of info and hopefully someone can help me as a linux noob to fix things and get my machine back to working order.
I followed the instructions here:
I also tried to install gem manually.
and got the following results.
Metasploit requires the Bundler gem to be installed
$gem install bundler
-#gem install bundler

Fedora 19 Beta Issues with trackpoint and brightness controls. Eh?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 23, 2013
Hi there. Long time Ubuntu user here trying out Fedora 19 beta so far and absolutely loving it. Only hangup I'm having so far is with my brightness keys, which were an issue on any distro I've tried so far. I ended up finding out some information via Arch's wiki/forums and used that alteration in my grub file, which was basically this here (this is what I put in Ubuntu to get it to work):
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=\"!Windows 2012\""
For what it's worth, here's my full grub file from a working Ubuntu install - http://pastebin.com/jwdPG0Ei
Then just update-grub and reboot and it was fine. I'm having some difficulty here doing that as for one, the grub file looks different than what I'm used to. Secondly, update-grub is not a valid command. What is the equivalent to update-grub in Fedora? Can anybody make sense of the !Windows 2012 entry and how I would apply it?
Also, on this Lenovo I have the usual layout for trackpad/keyboard with the tou
Any secureboot issues with Fedora 19 on Samsung Ultrabook?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 8, 2013
I'm about to install Fedora 19 on a Samsung ultrabook (NP530U3C), coming with Windows 8 pre-installed, and therefore with secureboot enabled in BIOS.
I've read of *severe* issues with installing linux on top of that, including the possibility of even bricking the machine :-\
I hope FC19 is sufficiently up to date to cope with such issues: can you confirm that? Has anyone had experience with FC19 on Samsung ultrabooks/secureboot?
Can you recommend a self-contained primer or intro describing the installation of FC19 dual-booting with Win8 on a secureboot laptop?
Audio looping issues with OpenGL based native games
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 6, 2013
In most of my OpenGL based games (have experienced this problem in the native steam version of L4D2, and the local native version of Dear Esther, I think this affects other OpenGL games, however these are the only 2 I know for a fact this happens to), after a few minutes of playing, I experience the sound 'freezing'.
The audio within the 1-2 seconds of it freezing begins looping, the way the issue behaves seems to override the system until the games are closed (volume control, muting etc. responds to my commands, however the game audio continues at the same volume).
This hasn't happened to any other tasks such as playing music and videos, and I have never experienced this with games such as Super Meat Boy or Binding of Isaac (both are windowed and 2d, the other runs in flash only).
To test I have ran Dear Esther via terminal (to see if it gives off any error codes), however it seems that the problem did not occur when playing in terminal for around the same amount of time to tr
Wireless issues with Ubuntu 11.04
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 7, 2011
Hey, after seeing how promising the new edition of Ubuntu was, I decided to install it along my current OS (Linux Mint 10).
Having installed Ubuntu without any problems I immediately installed both the wireless driver and my video driver in Additional Drivers; they are currently both 'The driver is activated and currently in use'.
Now with Mint, I could connect straight away to wireless but Ubuntu, no.
Having searched, I eventually changed the message under Wireless Networks to 'Device not ready' but after rebooting it's gone back to Wireless is disabled, even though it has been ticked
To get it to actually turn on. Iíve had to us 'sudo ifconfig eth1 up' and it even detects the wireless networks when I use 'sudo iwlist eth1 scan'.
Here are my ifconfig and iwconfig plus my wireless card :

Video issues with Intrepid, 3D games
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 19, 2009
I'm having a problem getting 3D games like World of Warcraft to work on Ubuntu Intrepid. I have the hardware video driver installed. It's not just Wine: I've tried several native 3D games also. I've tried with Compiz enabled and disabled through Compiz-Switch.
As soon as the game starts (possibly changing resolution), the screen becomes a mass of lines/colors and the only way to get out of it (so far) is to restart X.
My laptop has an ATI 1200 graphics card. Any ideas? I'm literally only using Intrepid because of the regression of the driver in the current distro.
Video Issues with my laptop display when playing games
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 17, 2011
I have a HP Compaq nx9010 laptop. The video is ATI Radeon IGP 345M.
The machine has 1Gig of total memory with 128Mb being taken away for
the video memory for the machine.
I am running Ubuntu 10.4 LTS
The video on the laptop is fine when I am at a desktop, viewing a movie doing standard stuff with a resolution of 1024 X 768. When I go to play any game, the video goes crazy and has millions of horizontal lines running through it. If I change the screen resolution down in size, it does the same error but hook up an external monitor, the game plays fine and the resolution can be changed without the error.
What if anything, can I do to correct this error.
