nxclient install issues with Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.04
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 21, 2007
Hi i'm a bit of a newbie to linux and i'm currently trying to install nxclient on Ubuntu 6.04 dapper drake but i'm not getting that far i have searched the internet but i could not solve the problem:
This is what i have done i have downloaded the nxclient package from the nomachine website and have tried to install it with the command:
sudo dpkg nxclient_2.1.0-11_i386.deb
I then receive a dependency error saying that libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 is missing - i have then downloaded the file thats required and have tried to install it:-
sudo dpkg -i libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2
and the error below is what i get
[HTML]Preparing to replace libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 1:2.95.4-27 (using libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-27_i386.deb) ...

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2:

color issues with vim through screen/ssh
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 7, 2011
I have been teaching myself how to remote into my desktop from my laptop and have gotten as far as getting 256 colors working within the terminal and screen. I am using the molokai theme and they show up correctly in gvim and vim running in the terminal/screen locally on the desktop or laptop. When running all that through ssh remotely(to desktop) the molokai colors are not the same.
I followed http://www.frexx.de/xterm-256-notes/ and http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/256_colors_in_vim , as of now I'm stuck with an annoying issue, but I can probably live with it if it can not be fixed. I'll get a screenshot uploaded of vim running remotely and locally, soon.
Issues with bash script over ssh
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 9, 2010
I've been trying to set up guake to automatically open 2 programs in two different tabs via ssh on my remote server. I have succeeded in doing this, however whenever the last command is run the terminal tab locks up and i can't enter any input, the only command that works is ctrl+c to kill (in this case) iptraf.
I think it might be something to do with how i'm sending my ssh password using echo and pipe... can anyone help? this is my script:
# script to launch multiple guake windows on Network21 local server
guake --rename-tab=Htop21 --execute-command="ssh -t 192.168.1.137 'htop'" &
sleep 5 &&
guake --new-tab=2 --rename-tab=Iptraf21 --execute-command="ssh -t 192.168.1.137 'echo password | sudo -S iptraf'" &
the first and second commands always work, whilst the last one loads iptraf then the cpu maxes out and i can't enter anything unless i kill the program. I've also tried nload and a couple of other
several issues with 11.10 installation
- date: October 14, 2011
I installed 11.10 on two machines, a Dell M380 and a Dell M50 laptop. The first was an upgrade from 11.04 while the second was a clean install. I have several problems, that are:
1. If I start in "Ubuntu" mode, the screen is essentially frozen and partially white. On the other hand if I start in "Ubuntu2" mode, then it seems OK. I installed the additional Nvidia proprietary driver but it didn't help.
2. It seems that something is broken with the vncviewer when using a tunnel through SSH. After typing something like: "vncviewer -via [email protected]
host2:1" I get:
Fri Oct 14 12:20:46 2011
CConn: connected to host localhost port 5599
*** stack smashing detected ***: vncviewer terminated

mini9 issues with ssh and others
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 9, 2008
I am noticing some really strange things with the mini-9 and I would like someone to at least confirm some of these if you own one; if you don't know the answers.
1. When I try to ssh into my server, I get asked the password fine, but then it just goes to a new line and sits there. SSH'ing into my server using another PC gives me no problems. CTRL+Q or CTRL+Z does nothing, terminal is just frozen.
2. Mashing 'TAB' key for auto-complete after typing sudo will no longer auto-complete. Typing "apt-g" then TAB will auto-complete, but "sudo apt-g" then TAB and nothing!
3. The wireless networking deamon "nm-applet 0.6.6" does not seem to monitor the status of the wireless driver or hardware. Try...
sudo ifconfig eth1 down
and the stupid applet has no clue. You have to reconnect manually using the applet or reboot.
4. This is the weirdest one, changes made to the desktop, like adding shortcuts to the tool bar, do not stay. Or
issues with ssh login
- date: August 3, 2011
I have a Rhel 3 machine.
I can login to it through telnet.
The config files /etc/ssh/sshd_config and /etc/ssh/ssh_config has not been modified.
/etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny have all commented lines.
But the IP address of the system was changed. Could this be issue?
It was earlier configured for passwordless login(dsa).
I tried moving the contents for .ssh file to bkp folder, still no help.
