LXer: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtualization Gets Managed

Red Hat has been talking about its new virtualization strategy for much of 2009. Today, the Linux vendor is making good on that talk with the release of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization for Servers, which includes a standalone hypervisor (RHEF-H) as well as a management platform (RHEV-M). The new virtualization products are intended to help advance the adoption of virtualization and enable cloud computing infrastructure deployments. "Today marks a milestone in Red Hat's virtualization roadmap, the immediate availability of RHEV-M an operational management system for virtualizing servers as well as RHEV-H a standalone, lightweight high-performance hypervisor built on KVM," Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) CTO Brian Steven said during a press conference. "With these additions to the virtualization product family, Red Hat has dramatically lowered the bar for IT to deploy and manage virtualized environments based on the RHEL [Red Hat Enterprise Linux] platform."
Virtualization is getting problem in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 16, 2012
Actually my Hardware details is as follows:
MotherBoard : intel DG965RY
RAM : 2GB
CPU : intel pentium Dual core 2.0 GHz
HDD : Western Digital 320GB
- Issue on Hypervisor Installation
I am running RHEL 6.0 in my machine, but there is a facility of virtualization in this OS, i mean virtual machine. But i am not able to use.
From my instructor's view point we have to enable virtualization technology in our mother board.
I have checked in my mother board's BIOS setup there is no virtualization technology system in it.
I have also try Oracle Virtual Box, but it doesnot install in this OS.
Is there any possible ways to solve this kind of problem or i have to changed my motherboard having VT Enabled?

Installing Ubuntu/SuSe over Red Hat enterprise Linux 5
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 23, 2008
I want to replace my RHEL 5 with either Ubuntu or SuSe. I tried older versions of SuSe but they give some error while installing and the installation stops. I want to keep my WINDOWS partition as it is. Please suggest versions of Ubuntu/SuSe that may over-write the existing RHEL 5.
Thanks in advance
SSH working locally but not remotely on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- date: January 6, 2012
I am new to linux and I am trying install red hat enterprise onto a spare dell power edge server that I have and enable a remote SSH connection to the box.
This is a fresh install of red hat enterprise and the SSH doesn't appear to be working remotely. I am attempting to connect directly from my laptop so the issue doesn't lay with port forwarding on my router.
I am using NMAP to port scan the box and it is showing that no ports are open at all, even after disabling iptables completely.
When I run service --status-all
I can see the Open SSH daemon is running and when I try SSH local to the machine 'ssh [email protected]
' it lets me log in.
I have added to the host.allow file the text SSHD= ALL and checked that there is nothing in the host.deny.
The port scan shows port 22 is closed and thus when I try to SSH using putty from my laptop, the connection is refused.
Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
How to Backup Red Hat Enterprise Linux Apache & MySQL in a Wintel environment
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 21, 2013
I've recently been given the task of backing up my company's Apache website and MYSQL DBs. We're using Microsoft DPM 2012 for all our windows servers, but currently do not have anything in place for MYSQL or Apache.
I'm looking for advice on how I can backup MYSQL and Apache - preferably with a DPM agent, but failing this, then may be just schedule backup jobs to a Samba or NFS share and get DPM to backup the share.
Any advice is much appreciated.
