Cannot connect to Red Hat Linux VM on Windows 7 laptop
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 4, 2012
Apologize for posting a similar topic if posted & resolved earlier .I have a RH5 Linux VM server with static IP running on Workstation 6 on Windows 7 host in my Dell Laptop. Installed DB2express-C ( IBM freeware DB2 )in the Linux and configured to listen at port 50000 . DB2 is working fine. Thinking to install IBM Data Studio ( freeware ) on windows 7 to connect to DB2 on linux vm . But before that tested and ping is not working. Read several forums around . Tried Bridge with VMnet0 , changed the /etc/samba/smb.conf file adding workgroup = WORKGROUP after installing samba . Did not work . Tried with adding alias to the static IP in /etc/hosts file , but that did not work too . well , not to mention .. am not very proficient in networking tools in Linux or Windows.. anyway , here are the further details of my ipconfig and ifconfig output .....any help will be highly apprecaited...

[SOLVED] Triple boot: Windows 7, Windows XP, Red Hat Linux 5.3
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 29, 2011
If possible, I would like to install three OS in one disk split into any partitions possible, Win 7 & XP and Red Hat Linux.
Can I do that and if so, how?
Thank you all in advance...
P.S. So far I tried installing Win7 first, then Win XP and then Linux (without a grub bootloader, so I can keep the Windows 7 one). No luck, as I couldnt find a way to make the Linux OS readable by EasyBCD.
Windows Partition Split For Room To Install Red Hat Linux 9.0
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 31, 2003
I have had windows for a while but I am to the point I want to learn Linux (for many other reasons too) and I am sick and tired of Microsoft and there crappy stuff....
Well a while back my computer crashed and I lost everything... Well Microsoft only sent me "Restore Disks" (my computer had pre-install with Windows XP so I had no install disks)...
Well I just re-installed windows using those disks (thats all I have)... But, that install will only install if it can format and re-partition my harddrive... It makes 2 partitions one a restore partition and the other (the REST of my hard drive) is the Windows partition...
I cant make room for linux... I tried using the free program "Partition Resizer" but it tells me that the two partitions overlap so it dose not read either of them...
I have to leave windows on my computer for other members of my family....
How can I fix this?
