We have our application developed and tested with sql server 2008r2 using ASP.NET on windows server. Now we have a requirement to move the database from windows to oracle on red hat linux. We haven't yet setup the infrastructure to test the same. I would like to know in the meantime if anyone has successfully done this kind of thing. Pointers to any resources will be a great advantage. Is changing the connection string the only thing that needs to be done or are there any specific configuration in Linux to allow this? I will verify this once I get the environment ready, but as a headstart if anyone has any similar experience, do share. Thanks in advance. P.S: For migration of table structure, storedprocedures etc to oracle we will be using the Sql Developer tool.

Dear all. I have installed oracle database 9i on my red hat 7.3 server. During installation i got one error "error in target installation of make file $ORACLE_HOME/lib/ctx/ins_ctx.mk" . I searched the net for this error and found that in the $ORACLE_HOME/lib/ctx/env_ctx.mk" i have to add $(LDLIBFLAG)dl to the INSO_LINK line. core dump, kernel crash in red hat linux 6.2 analyse

I have core dump vmcore file in red hat linux 6.2 64 bit . I use crash utility to check the file . I find there is something like "find_busiest_group" in bt . I wonder what are the optimal Linux kernel parameters for oracle 11g db on 64-bit system. I didn't find any detailed, good or full recommendations or best practices for this issue. Just found one recommendation that on 64-bit system it's good to set shmax half of the RAM.

Hello there guys. This rookie seems to be getting the hang of Linux. Now, just one more help from the last one. I have some applications(SugarCE-5.2.0f.zip, jbpm-4.0.CR1.zip, bugzilla-3.2.3.tar.gz) on my desktop, just to name a few...I know how to install but have not installed applications that are already on my desktop before.
