[SOLVED] Webcam Compatibility Lifecam Cinema H5D00003
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 2, 2010
I require a webcam and have identified a potential candidate. It is the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema.
The problem is that I do not feel confident about its compatibility with Linux as I can not confirm if it is UVC device.
According to http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/ this device is supported and should simply be plug and play. However when I look online I find there are apparantly different version numbers (e.g. H5D-00001 and H5D-00003) as such this throws a spanner in the works for me as the berlios site does not expand in relation to versions. I can not establish what the difference is between these versions. It is the H5D-00003 version that I am looking to buy (simply because Amazon has them at a decent cost).
I also know that if a device is classed as "Compatible with Windows Vista" that it should therefore also be UVC compliant. This device is listed as "Windows 7 Compatible" but I am struggling to confirm if this means the device is UVC compliant al

Linux equivalent of Cinema 4D Does one exist?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 4, 2014
Is there a linux equivalent of Cinema 4D? Whenever I look it up it just shows how to run cinema 4D on a linux OS, which is ok, but I'd prefer something native.

Cinema 4D R10 Wine Ubuntu
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 9, 2007
Ok! So! Cinema 4D, one of the most useful 3D programs Iv ever used (and Iv used a fair bit) out of 3Ds Max, Maya, and Blender, I still pick Cinema 4D.
Well, Iv been using Cinema 4D on windows for a few years now... since back in R7... right up to R10. And it runs fine on windows.
As of late however Iv been using Linux (Ubuntu) for my OS (however I have a Multi Boot system, so I can still use all of my windows programs), but Iv been trying to get Cinema working in Linux...
Well, though Wine I have... kinda... Succeeded... C4D runs... it.. 'Works' but its far from perfect. its quite slow, and... I don't know why but it likes to.. erm... turn black...
Here, I have a screencap:
Everything still works... I can create objects I can move them around... The black areas come and go... Menus still appear to work (if I can find them). Sometimes none of it is black (rarely).
I was however able to mess around enough to render a
Cinema 4D R12 + Wine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 14, 2011
I downloaded a copy of Cinema 4D R12(piracy is bad!) and I can't get it working with Wine. There's no error message. Just nothing. Does R12 just not work with Wine? I'm using R10 on here at the moment(I bought it, don't worry) and it works fine.

Cinema 4D R13 Help
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 25, 2013
On my computer I am running Ubuntu Live CD as my hard drive is broke but I can still access files. I am waiting to take into repair which should be hopefully by the end of next week. Anyway the program I really need to use is called Cinema 4D and long story short I cant get it to run. It comes up with a very long error message which I cant remember what it says. I am about to try wine 1.5 to see if that would work but my hopes are not high for it. Right now I am on an old laptop and some of the scenes I have to import are massive and believe me when I say I have tried to import them but it just crashes cinema 4d. Anyway I was hoping if there was any work around. I can get PlayOnLinux but I have absolutely no idea how to use it or even if that could be used as an alternative. Please help me.

Cinema 4D install fail
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 6, 2013
I don't know if this is the appropriate Forum to post it but I installed wine 1.4 and right clicked on setup.exe and selected wine for install. The language prompt pops up, I select English, then the window closes and that's when nothing else happens. Like a silent fail after language selection. I google for answers and I came across people with the same problem but none of them had solutions posted. I'm stuck here. I also tried to install it on Win8 and it was spitting out a app error, I found the youtube solution and that didn't work for me either lol this is just crazy.
Cinema 4d + Wine running problems.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 6, 2006
I'm using the tutorial on http://www.liquid-light.org/index.ph...mid=44&lang=en
for getting Cinema4d to work under wine in Linux..
It says to just copy the directory from an already installed Cinema4d into your wine folder and try to run it, so I copied my windows installation into the correct .wine dir folders. I try to run it by CDing into the directory in the .wine directory and using wine "CINEMA 4D.exe" and Cinema 4d gives me an error:
Cinema 4D (name of window that pops up)
Internal Error: String Resource not found!
The 'resource' directory seems to be corrupt or missing.
What should I do?
On the tutorial page it says this about this error:
