SD card mounting and writing problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 30, 2014
I've problem using SD card on my 2 Lenovo notebook, everytime I insert the card nothing happens, I must remove and insert the 2nd time then I will see the pop up and can use the card, but still I could not delete or copy file to it, it said read only file system, I tried different card the same problem, but the same card is fully accessible via an USB adapter. My notebook is new and has no problem on windows, there is something wrong with OpenSuse to work with the SD slot, any idea ?
Can somebody explain SD card mounting in plain English, please?

I've got an HP Mini, which I installed 10.10 Netbook on a few months ago, and have been trying to get my 4gb SD card to mount since I installed. I've gone to tons of threads and so on to find instructions I understand, but any that I did ended up not working. Can anyone explain how to get it to mount (not even automount, just mount, though it would be nice if I could get it to automount, too) either in plain terms or with screenshots if it's not able to be explained in plain terms?
Thank you so much if you can
SD Card Mounting Issues

I'm having problems getting Ubuntu to properly recognize this SD card. I've formatted it as FAT32, NTFS, EXT3 and finally EXT4. Now I can manually mount it, although it will register as a disk, not an SD card, and after a very long wait. I've tried using GParted, but it hangs on "Scanning all devices".
When I first insert the card, running "tail -f /var/log/messages" gives me:

So this is the error I get when I try mounting a SanDisk Ultra SDXC Class 10 64GB card on my Asus EeePC 900HA, shot with a Canon Rebel T2i. It says it has an unknown filesystem, so I'm not sure it's something I can get Xubuntu to read or of it's simply too large or fast of a card for this old netbook to read. It's fine if it can't be read but it would definitely be nice to be able to browse the photos.

"No space left on device" error message : NOT TRUE (while writing to a SD card)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 13, 2011
I'm news to Ubuntu and until now I manage to fix all my smalls problems searching this forum and google.
But, now I'm stuck.
I want to copy some picture and a few video to a 2GB SD card (brand: Kentron, pre-formated FAT32) for a digital picture frame.
after copying 168mb, I receive an error "No space left on device". But, the SD still have over 90% free space.
I cannot copy more file from my HD to the SD, duplicate files already present on the SD nor creating empty folder/file in the SD.
My files names don't have any special char. eg: "2010-04-11 20.45.02.jpg"
Following some advices from thread about similar problem, I run "df -h". It returned what I expected:
/dev/mmcblk0p1 1.9G 165M 1.7G 9% /media/disk-1
I also tried to unmunt it and run "sudo fsck /dev/mmcblk0p1"
fsck 1.41.4 (27-Jan-2009)
dosfsck 3.0.1, 23 Nov 2008, FAT32, LFN
/dev/mmcblk0p1: 172 files, 5277/60281 clusters

Everything worked fine in the previous Xubuntu 12.04 right out of the box.
Just did a clean install of Xubuntu 12.10. USB drives automount correctly, but nothing happens with the SD card reader or the PCMCIA slot.

SD Card is not mounting
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 13, 2013
I'm posting this here as I assume multimedia relates to SD cards and the mp3's I am trying to retrieve. When I insert my card, which is coming out of my Galaxy Note II (works perfect in Windows) I get the following error: Error mounting /dev/sdb1 at /media/niviah/2E9A-3192: Command-line `mount -t "exfat" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid" "/dev/sdb1" "/media/niviah/2E9A-3192"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: unknown filesystem type 'exfat' Any thoughts?
