Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 Released
The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the release of Ubuntu 11.04 Beta
2.
Codenamed "Natty Narwhal", 11.04 continues Ubuntu's proud tradition of
integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a
high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at
work since Beta 1, fixing bugs and getting things all nice and natty.
For PC users, Ubuntu 11.04 now supports laptops, desktops and netbooks
with a unified look and feel based on Unity.
A special Ubuntu Netbook version is provided for platforms based on ARM
technology, such as the Panda and Beagle boards.
Ubuntu Server 11.04 has made it easier to provision servers, and reduce
power consumption.
Ubuntu Server 11.04 for UEC and EC2 is available as well, with a new
kernel and improved initialization and configuration options.
The Ubuntu 11.04 family of Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, Mythbuntu, and

11.04 Beta LiveUSB
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 2, 2011
Hi everyone!
Today I decided I want to try the 11.04 beta came couple of days ago.
So, I downloaded the desktop amd64 (actually my processor is Intel Core i5 2500k, I don't know if that matters since its the only 64bit version I found)
So, I used Universal USB Installer to get this on USB. Currently there is no entry for 11.04 so I just selected "Try Unlisted ISO (New Syslinux)"
Then I booted from the USB, everything went well except for the fact that I didn't see the famous Unity launcher. There was just a ubuntu button of the left of the Panel that when I clicked on it it showed the menues.
Anyway, I created partitions and stuff and loaded the installer app. I chose my ext4 partition for ubuntu to install on (mounted as /) and everything went okay till the end when an error pops up (I am so stupid I forgot what was it..)
I was afraid of my new computer so I just deleted all the partitions.
Any ideas? Did someone also had it?

Adobe Flash 11 RELEASE install information for AMD64 (October 2011 update)

To moderators: please make this post sticky. It's predecessor was sticky on the x86-64 forum, but that forum is now closed. Thank you.
NEWS! Adobe Flash 11 for 64-bit is finally released!
Designed for 64-bit versions of Ubuntu starting with Hardy 8.04.
Do NOT use this script on any 32-bit version of Ubuntu.
Why use these instructions?
Instructions on Adobe website in "download flash player" are actually inaccurate for Linux 64-bit and will make you install Flash version 10. You do not want that.
Instructions on a popular sevenmachines ppa give a beta version with known security holes. You don't want that either.
Which browser is supported?
The only supported browsers are 64-bit Firefox 3.6 and 64-bit Firefox 10 provided by Ubuntu team. Lucid 10.04 and Maverick 10.10 supply functional version of FF 3.6 browser; otherwise you must obtain updated one from firefox-stable PPA. Detailed instructions here: FirefoxNewVersion from ubuntu community wiki.

Need to know some things before upgrade to 11.04 beta
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 2, 2011
Firstly I've never (successfully) upgraded before using update manager -d but I've only tried once.
I'm on 10.10 at the moment but I want to make a full disk backup using Acronis and try out 11.04 beta 1 so if I can't boot (like with the 11.04 Alpha 3) I'm ok.
What I want to know is if I upgrade to beta 1 it will install new things and settings, if beta 2 is released and I upgrade to that (after having beta 1 installed) will it overwrite all the settings again? Or will I be able to spend time set beta 1 up nice how I want it (if it works) and just smoothly upgrade gradually to final 11.04 keeping it pretty much exactly how I want it?
Also with the software sources, I understand I need to disable the ones I manually added before updating from 10.10 then to re-enable them, but how do I re-enable them for Natty as they are currently for Maverick? Do I just change the word Maverick to Natty, or is it better to remove and re-add them for natty? And do the authentication keys need u

get new font for gnome terminal
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 26, 2008
Hello,
on my old slackware I use to work with Xterm and 7x14 misc fonts.
I would like to know how can achieve the same result on gnome
terminal in a ubuntu linux box.
How can I add this font to be selectable in the preference dialog?
And which is the better to use? It seems that on the X misc fonts
dir there are so many encodings 7x14.pcf files that I do not know
which to choose? Should I choose the iso8859-1 file, the file
without any encoding prefix, or all? I think I should copy the
bold files also..
