Can anyone tell me some background of this os. I have worked with other linux programs and flavors but not this one and have researched it and found there are some tweaking to do to it after installing it. Would love to know any helpful hints before I install it. Goal date is this weekend. Thank you ahead of time.
New Ubuntu 11.10 Freezing on startup
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 29, 2011
Hi Guys,
I updated one of my partition to last ubuntu 11.10. The startup freeze straight on the Ubuntu logo... It works fine if I use the recovery mode, but it doesn't load my graphic card, so I think the problem is coming from this... I've got an Asus Extreme AX550 series...
My machine is a dual-boot with Windows XP... But the other stuff are working fine...
If I go to Additional Drivers, I have nothing showing up, in my precedent Ubuntu version my graphic card was there and I had to install extra drivers... It might be because I have to use the recovery mode, and I guess gfx-loader is not loaded... Any idea how to fix this?

Cannot get Adobe Flash Player to Install on Opera Ubuntu 14.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 1, 2015
HI,
I have a Dell XPS 15 L502X running Ubuntu 14.04. I have done a lot of research on this and read other threads but I cannot figure out how to install Adobe Flash Player on Opera to make it work. I mostly would like it to watch Youtube videos with it but when I do I get and error. As far as I know I am running the latest version of Opera as I installed it recently. I have the .rpm version downloaded but it always won't work or the terminal can't find it and opera just can't find it to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
God bless,

Flash for 11.10, 64bit
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 10, 2012
I'm trying to get Flash installed for my browsers. I found what I think is the right package to download, and now the Ubuntu Software Center is asking me to choose an application for opening "apt links." What do I select for this?
Thanks.
Flash objects choppy/broken/corrupted in Ubuntu 11.04 64bit
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 7, 2011
I was experiencing that flash elements looked weird when run under Firefox in Ubuntu 11.04 after a (two-step) upgrade from 10.04 where it worked fine. The exact same pages also looked properly for me in e.g. Chrome.
The problem looked like in this youtube video.
Also, the problem was only present when the flash object was run with "wmode transparent" as can be seen in this jsfiddle.
This posting is just to help out the next poor guy who runs into problems like I did. My personal problem was solved by using the Firefox Flash-Aid plugin. It cleaned up my flash installation and now all is well.
11.10, 64bit, new install, hardware raid no boot
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 27, 2012
I'm hoping someone here may have run into this type of problem regardless of motherboard and can therefore help me out a little.
Ijust finished the build of a new PC - 8 core/16GB/2-Seagate SATA 6 1.5TB/Asus M5A97 motherboard.
The motherboard allows setting up RAID in the BIOS. I did set it up - it shows the RAID 1 array and the logical device name. After setting that in the BIOS, I booted the Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit desktop LiveCD and installed Ubuntu - including whatever it downloaded and the extras at install time.
Now I have a little problem - I can't get it to boot the RAID set. I updated the BIOS to show the logical device name in the boot device selections, but it never boots.
On this particular motherboard there are 6 SATA 6 ports. The ports 1-4 seem to be grouped together as do ports 5 and 6. The 2 drives are on ports in the 1-4 range (I don't remember which right now). My SATA dvd drive is on port 5. For setting up RAID, I changed the port settings for the gro

I am not exactly sure what to ask, but I like playing Multiplayer shooters, and Realtime Strategy Games.
1) What are the best native or ported Shooters and RTS games to play.
2) If I want to use wine or cedega, what kind of overhead am I looking at?
FYI - This is just for fun stuff on my laptop. I am pretty sure I wont be running doom 3, or anything cutting edge stuff.
