e17 "Enlightenment error: This is very bad."
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 13, 2012
Since most of the other desktop environments I've come across aren't what I'm after, I finally found e17 which seems to serve my needs well... But there is a curse upon me it seems, because now, with a fresh 12.04 Ubuntu install, whenever I simply click on the desktop and navigate to "Applications > Accessories" with my mouse, I get the title error... It goes as follows:
Enlightenment error: This is very bad. Enlightenment SEGV'd.
This is not meant to happen and is likely a sign of a bug in Enlightenment or the libraries it relies on. You can gdb attach this process now to try to debug it, or you could exit, or you could just restart to try and get your desktop back the way it was. Please compile everything with -g in your CFLAGS.
Any ideas on this one...? Appreciate your time!
[SOLVED] Debian Jessie + Enlightenment E17 Git`s problems
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 15, 2013
OK. I have created the very bare minimum Debian install (deselected all check boxes of the package selection part of the NetInst CD).
On to this, I am trying (with some success) to put the latest build (from GitHub) of Enlightenment on it. In fact, I am typing this post from Enlightenment on the very machine in question - so on the face of it I have done it.
However, I have run into a stumbling block.
I want to install Entrance, the E17 login manager. I have the source files downloaded from GH and am running the script as per their instructions.
So I am running Debian Jessie. I have the core Debian system, xserver-xorg and xorg plus the necessary dependencies listed on E17`s website.
I have installed E17 from the sources on their standard http: download page (http://www.enlightenment.org/p.php?p=download&l=en) in the past, and there are 14 packages to be installed in a specific order, as specified here http://www.enlightenment.org/p.php?p=about/e17&l=en
E17 No icons on Linux Mint 15
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 18, 2013
I install Enlightenment 0.17.3 on Linux Mint 15 (XFCE) using the elf/trunk PPA. Most of the applications in the menu have no icons. I installed several icon themes in Synaptic, but they don't show up the the Application Theme menu (Settings panel > Application Theme > Icons.). I tried dragging in the icon folders from /usr/share/icons to ~/.e/e/icons but that didn't work either.
Decent terminal emulator for E17?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 12, 2007
Does anyone know of a decent terminal emulator or E17? At the moment I'm using xterm, which is ok, but I would like something that looks good (not in Gtk1) and has very few dependencies. Thanks!
Is anyone else trying Siduction?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 24, 2012
I installed the new Siduction 12.1 release with the LXDE option. It is already using the brand new Linux 3.4 kernel. So far, I am pretty impressed.
Is anyone else giving it a try?

HOWTO: E17 using the repository provided by Elive
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 1, 2005
OK. This HOWTO does some things that some people consider dangerous to your Ubuntu installation. The only reason to do this is if you are one of the "e17 Crackheads"(TM). I can tell you that I have done everything shown here on both a fresh install and an existing one and it works. That doesn't mean it will work for you. It probably will but it may not. If you don't have any intention of dealing with your install getting farked, you shouldn't do this.
But I wouldn't recommend that you do.
But I would.
In theory, this HOWTO is complete but in reality, it's a work in progress.
First, I wish to thank Smoon for all the work that he did on the Ubuntu repository for e17. With his departure, many have been looking for other ways to get e17 installed and working. This is an attempt to document a setup that works as easily as using Smoon's repo. Because the process is so similar, I used the Smoon HOWTO written by Tab to avoid extra typing. Only a few items ha
Serious bug: G3 PPC+Rage 128 Ultra+Ubuntu 12.04+E17(from Ubuntu repo)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 12, 2013
What I Did:I installed E17 via Synaptic (just to see what else would be installed along with it). I also made certain that I have GPU acceleration by downgrading MESA to 7.11.x (needed for the Rage 128).
If I click the left mouse button on the E17 desktop, I get the "Main" dropdown menu. But if I hover the mouse on "Applications", and then select "Accessories", I get a pop-up error in a white window saying:
This is very bad, Enlightenment SEGV'd.
This is not meant to happen and is likely a sign of
a bug in Enlightenment or the libraries it relies
on. You can gdb attach to this process now to try
debug it or you could exit, or just hit restart to
try and getyour desktop back the way it was.
Please compile everything with -g in your CFLAGS

Can else here verify if you also get this bug? If you're a PPC user, simply install E17 and follow my procedure above to attempt to replic
