problem about a simple gimp script
location: linuxexchange.com - date: November 10, 2010
I have taken photos from my negative and I want to invert the color in a batch, I have "somehow" copy and paste a script like this:
(define (batch-negative pattern)
(let* ((filelist (cadr (file-glob pattern 1))))
(while (not (null? filelist))
(let* ((filename (car filelist))
(image (car (gimp-file-load RUN-NONINTERACTIVE
(drawable (car (gimp-image-get-active-layer image))))
image drawable filename filename)
(set! filelist (cdr filelist)))))
I try to follow the tutorial, but fails, I think there is something wrong at the line for gimp-invert, b
GIMP animation question
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
Is it possible to create an animation in GIMP that will loop only certain number of times and then stop playing?
I see there is an option that allows looping forever.
But I want the animation to stop after looping 5 times or say 30 seconds not play forever.
What are my options?

Basic GIMP use question...
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 4, 2010
Maybe someone can help me with this. I new to using GIMP so still finding my feet.
I've been editing an image today, mostly pretty simple stuff. I'm removing some text out of the image. It has a white background and was using the eraser which was working fine earlier. Came back after a break and now when I use the eraser its leaving a grey smudge when I erase instead of the white background. I must have done something to cause this.
I need this image for a class tomorrow. Can anyone tell where to look or what to undo?
On Gimp A Question
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 9, 2007
Hi Everyone. I make the eventual transaction for Windows XP to UNUNTU 6.10. Until then, I was considering downloading GIMP for Windows and make and exploration of the program if you will. Is it the same in Windows if I do this> I am all to familiar with picture it from Windows and I can do many things, created collages, change and or add back-grounds, heck make you young or old, all that neat stuff. So yes I am wondering of this. Thanks you

simple bash scripting for loop question
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 24, 2013
NOOB bash scripter here.
I have the following loop in a bash shell script:
for file in $WORKING_DIRECTORY/*.ogg
My question is: When the directory does not contain any .ogg files it still returns a value of 1 for the $COUNTER. As soon as there is even one .ogg files it works as it is supposed to. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.
Gimp Clone Brush Question seen elsewhere many times different answers none work
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 1, 2013
I am posting here because this is an issue that many newbies seem to have.
I am not exactly a newbie, but I am having this newbie-type problem and figure it needs to be addressed by the Gimp community and I don't know the right place to put it.
In my Ubuntu 12.10 Gimp 2.8 simply won't allow me to use the clone brush.
In gimp on my windows machine it works.
On my other machines, running 12.04 and 12.10 respectively, it works.
Seems obvious there is something I need to do/check on the system on which it doesn't work. I have tried all the solutions I see when googling this; none work.
It may be a gpu/driver problem. If so, where do I find out how to fix/solve it?
I am not exactly a newbie, as I said. But this problem has made me feel like a newbie, if not changed me into one.
Thanks for listening. Thanks for pointers to solution.
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 Bit newbie simple question to begin with
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 13, 2012
I have recently chosen this O/S as the engine for my workstation machine. To begin with I have a fairly simple question.
What is the desktop environment (DE) for ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 Bit, that being the default one. I was always under the impression that it was GNOME 3, but there seems to be some confusion (probably on my part) whether it is in fact called UNITY. To indicate that GNOME 3 has been played with to unify it with the ubuntu O/S.
So what's the story folks?
Thanking you in advance,
