unsatisfied dependencies for smart package manager on PClinuxOS
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 11, 2005
My unsatisfied dependencies for smart package manger according to KPackage are: rpm-python, python-psyco, rpmmodule.so Yes this package is specifically for PClinuxOS.
So does anyone know where I could find this stuff?
Also, I'm surprised that there isn't a specific forum for PClinuxOS yet...
EDIT: Damn, this should be in the mandriva section shouldn't it.
popt >= 1.8.3
python >= 2.4
python-base >= 2.4
Those are required by rpm-python...
Forget all this.
What I need is a package manager that can install smart package manager's HUGE dependency tree (I actually made a subtaintial dent in it though).
The thing is I want SPM to take care of problems like this.
It's like needing a complier to complie a complier...
Using smart package manager in Ubuntu hoary
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 13, 2004
What about using Smart in ubuntu hoary by default? I am using it in warty and it works nicely (I found a bug in inserting new channels using the gui, but besides that...). It resolves problems installing packages that apt/synaptic can't handle. Maybe it would be a good idea, it is made in python and C. What is you opinion?
ps. If someone thinks it is dificult to install it I will give some more indepth help, but basically you need gcc and python-dev. Then execute python setup.py install, and then to insert a new channel you have to read the docs, but you need at least one deb-sys channel.

If the Smart package manager is as great as they say it is, why doesn't Ubuntu use it by default? And is its dependency management compatible with apt?
How to install SMART package manager?

I understand that the SMART PM is on the 10.1 discs. If YAST is not working for me, how would I install this and its GUI?

Can anyone kindly assist as being fairly new to Linux I am quite sure I have made a major error by tinkering too much.

This occurs on using the update manager, package manager, apt-get update, etc. Any ideas? I've tried deleting the cached files, changing my server, checking that my date & time are correct (signing can be time sensitive), updating gpg (it was already at the latest), and maybe some other things I've forgotten.
