Software application KNOPPIX
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 15, 2004
Hi can anyone tell me what software application I would need to use to Install a driver I downloaded for my Sagem 800 modem.
I got a Linux driver update and though I have Suse 9.0 personal installed on my machine I cannot get YAST to intall it for some crazy reason and as usaul with Linux there is no error message so I don't know where to look and have given up trying all the change this button and see if it will work.
I bought a Knoppix cd which I heard would recognize all my hardware without any problem which it did but I don't know what application like YAST in Suse that I can use to install the driver. The driver is saved as file extension .tgz which is linux in case ye were wondering.
Is their a guaranteed modem I could use to get connected, I heard that you can get hardware modems or serial port modems some where??

Installing software to Knoppix 6.1 from a DVD or CD rom
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 7, 2010
I have installed Knoppix 6.1 on a memory stick and run it on my laptop. Everything works well, Internet, e-mail and so on.
I have a DVD with Linux program on and I been trying to install them but no success. (No .exe files here).
It appears the program on the DVD comes in different formats ( different file extensions).
Can someone tell me how to install programs on Knoppix 6.1 .
Cheers and thanks.
Church (Donation tracking) software application
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 12, 2011
Are there any Linux based (Ubuntu) Church software for using to record/track & then report annual member donations/contributions for the members use on preparing their annual tax returns ?
Need something that is not someones 1 or 2 month programming experiment that will/has been abandoned shortly after starting and that is not so full of bugs that it is useless, i.e. looking for a mature/ongoing software application.
How do I convert my software application into a software appliance?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: April 29, 2009
Assuming I want to sell a hardware appliance with only my software on it, what do I need to do?
Where can I find the hardware?
How can I remote into the machine to fix things if I need to?
Google used to do this with the search appliance (don't know if they still do). VMWare should have a website like cafepress where you upload a logo, choose specs, and then give them an image and they dropship you a server with that on it.
Edits to this question are encouraged, for all the things I forgot.
Installing Software on Knoppix 4.0
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 30, 2005
I've been trying out Knoppix for a couple of weeks, and, today, I decided to install it onto my hard drive. All of that went well. However, when I try and install programs I get this error:
rpm: To install rpm packages on Debian systems, use alien. See README.Debian.
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - No such file or directory (2)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
I'm new to Linux, so I apologize afore-hand.
Thanks for any help.

Where in GUI do I find the "software managment application" and is "Software Development Workstation" a choice?

Application describing hardware/software architecture of a company
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 11, 2008
I was wondering if there was any open-source application out there which would allow the users to have a complete image of the hardware/software used in their companies, the interdependencies (I mean software A is on machine M, and needs software B on machine N to operate, etc.) ?
I don't know if it's clear enough, but that should be a good start.
Any ideas ?
