[SOLVED] more or less but less does not keep its output on the screen
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 4, 2012
When I run the "more" command, scroll down some, then press "q" to quit, I still see the file contents I scrolled to. But with "less" it erases it and restores the screen. I'd like to have a scroller program for the command line that goes up and down like "less", but keeps the last contents on the screen when quitting like "more". There does not appear to be an option on "less" to revert to the traditional behavior of "more".
Is there such an alternate program? If not, and if I decide to modify "less" to add this, what would you suggest the command line option or command control letter to be?

[SOLVED] insmod inserts the module. but lsmod does not list it. using Plx load module utility.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 12, 2014
I bought a PLX 9054 bridge based PCI card for some serial communication, (MESA 5i21). I downloaded the Linux PLX SDK, built the drivers for the PLX chip.
PLX has given a module load utility plx_load (attached).
When I try to load the module, the insmod returns a success. But the same module is not listed by lsmod. The Plx_load utility verifies the insertion of the module. The output of the Plx_load is also attached.
I have not encountered such a problem before.
by the way I am using the RHEL 6.4 kernel version 184.108.40.2068
The Plx_load is below...
Acid rip does not find my dvd player or file path is wierd
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 7, 2014
Hello i try to rip some dvd's that i have ...
But i don't know how to write the file path to my dvd ...
This is how it looks like, my dvd is at my "media" folder ...
The name of the dvd is "UDF Volume" or is it the cd device ... not sure
Now i try to write /media/UDF Volume as file path for "acid rip" to find and rip my dvd, but there is no such file path.
When i click on UDF Volume so comes the dvd files up ...
And when i click on VIDEO_TS i can see the files that i want to rip with "acid rip"
But i don't know the search or file path to the dvd?
That is what i need help with.
I test the following file path.
/media/UDF Volume/VIDEO_TS and it does not work
I also try with terminal to try to find the search path or file path to my dvd
When i write cd /media i come to that folder
Then i write ls to list files in that folder and can see UDF Volume
So i have no clue how i got to get the right file patch to my dvd to tell acid rip
Lirc works, but XBMC does not respond to Infrared input
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 2, 2013
Hi, I have a strange situation with Lirc and XBMC:
Lirc is set up to work with my homemade IR receiver, plugged into /dev/ttyS0 on my media PC. (Ubuntu 10.04 with XBMC Eden)
Running irw gives the desired results: The correct button names (e.g. key_up) are displayed on stdout as I press them on the remote. XBMC starts as a service, xbmc-live, on boot. It does not respond to IR button presses at all. My configuration is as follows:
Firefox claims invalid security certificate for this site, but Chrome does not
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 19, 2011
I get an Untrusted Connection error when I visit this site to login into my GRE account, and I cannot add it as an exception, in Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Ubuntu 11.04
When I visit the site using Chrome, I have no issues. Is this a bug in Firefox's certificate management? I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I do not get this error in Windows' Firefox 4.0

Thought I was past the stage of posting such basic questions but obviously I am not...
I have started to get "No space left on device" errors when writing to files in /home (/dev/hda9 on my box). But df says there is plenty of space and lots of free i-nodes:

[Solved] Mount Point: Mount Point 0 does not exist
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 26, 2010
I am dual-bootng Ubuntu 9.10 and Mint 8, both of which use GRUB2. The Mint 8 GRUB sets the initial menu since Mint was loaded after Ubuuntu 9.10. Since both use GRUB2 I was not concerned about this.
Both before the installation of Mint and afterward I see a series of messages fly by on the screen when Ubuntu is booted. These come right after the initial presentation of the Ubuntu logo.
By restarting several times I can read the first several lines. They are:
Mount: Mount Point 0 does not exist
Mount 0 terminated with status 32
Mountall: Filesystem could not be mounted
Further lines follow but I would have to reboot umpteen times to have any chance of copying those.
I have looked in the various Ubuntu GRUB2 files for "Mount Point 0". I do not see any reference to it.
GParted, BKID and etc/fstab all agree on the UUIDs set for my Ubuntu/, Ubuntu Home and Ubuntu swap file.
I see nothing like this when I boot Mint 8.

Ubuntu 13.04 Gnome3 works, but Unity does not
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 22, 2013
I'm sure there is an easy fix for this, but after I upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04, Unity does not seem to be working. When I log in to the Gnome3 DE, everything seems fine, but when I log into the Unity DE, I have no top bar of side bar. Right-click also doesn't work. I can get a terminal emulator with Ctrl-Alt-T and Guake works fine with my F12 shortcut, but nothing works as far as the display. All I have is the wallpaper. I have taken all the updates.
