[SOLVED] cron errors: failed with exit status 1
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 12, 2011
I've recently installed the latest debian stable, and now my cron file isn't working (it was working fine before the installation). It contains lines which invoke zenity to produce popup messages, for example:
(CRON) error (grandchild #11934 failed with exit status 127)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 17, 2011
I solved this cron issue in ubuntu.
This cron job line will have error 127 in ubuntu server 11.04.

Installation error. gcc failed with exit status 1

I want to install a Python module (gevent) using the command below, which leads to the error belows. I don't understand why it leads to a gcc error. As far as I know gcc is installed.
Does anybody know what's wrong here?

Installing lxml with pip in virtualenv Ubuntu 12.10 error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 4
location: linuxexchange.com - date: April 22, 2013
I'm having the following error when trying to run "pip install lxml" into a virtualenv in Ubuntu 12.10 x64. I have Python 2.7.
I have seen other related questions here about the same problem and tried installing python-dev, libxml2-dev and libxslt1-dev.
Please take a look of the traceback from the moment I tip the command to the moment when the error occurs.

installing Reportlab (error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 )
location: linuxexchange.com - date: September 7, 2011
I'm trying to install ReportLab 2.4 on a 10.04.2 server with virtualenv.
In the ReportLab_2_4 folder I use:
python setup.py install
and the error I get:
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
“error: command 'x8664linuxgnugcc' failed with exit status 1” in virtualenv
location: linuxexchange.com - date: November 25, 2014
Environment: Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon.
This error is displayed:
error: command 'x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc' failed with exit status 1
when attempting the following in a virtualenv:
pip install lxml
pip install pillow
pip install pycrypto
pip install pymongo (fails but still shows in pip freeze)
There are several solutions here that recommend installing python2.7-dev:
Installing Pillow error: Setup script exited with error: command 'x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc' failed with exit status 1
Installing lxml in virtualenv via pip install error: command 'x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc' failed
Pillow installation error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
fatal error: Python.h: No such file or directory
I am confused by this recommendation however because it is my understanding that using something like:
sudo apt-get install python2.7-dev
would add this to the main *system* instance of Python, rather that the one in virtualenv. (see - http://unix.stackexchange.com/a/56392/9
Kerberos installation error, error: Setup script exited with error: command 'i686linuxgnugcc' failed with exit status 1

I am trying to install python kerbos library, setup.py fails with following. I have already done sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get install python-dev(in that order). Here is the complete trackback of the process.

error: command 'i686linuxgnugcc' failed with exit status 1 while installinin kivy
location: linuxexchange.com - date: September 21, 2015
I tried to install kivy using pip.But the aforementioned error occurs.
Detailed error message is like this ,
Command "/home/rawdata/.virtualenvs/kivy/bin/python -c "import setuptools, tokenize;__file__='/tmp/pip-build-gWYerj/kivy/setup.py';exec(compile(getattr(tokenize, 'open', open)(__file__).read().replace('\r\n', '\n'), __file__, 'exec'))" install --record /tmp/pip-aGOzJ1-record/install-record.txt --single-version-externally-managed --compile --install-headers /home/rawdata/.virtualenvs/kivy/include/site/python2.7/kivy" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-gWYerj/kivy
I already have python-dev, libeven-dev, gevent etc installed.Same error occurs while installing cryptography and cffi.
could someone please find a solution.
FYI: I am using Linux mint 17.1 cinnamon.
PyXML Ubuntu 13.1, error: Setup script exited with error: command 'x8664linuxgnugcc' failed with exit status 1

struggling to install PyXML on UBuntu 13.1.0, As it is throwing the error:
error: Setup script exited with error: command 'x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc' failed with exit status 1
I googled around a bit but could only find instructions to install python-dev but I have already done this (as demoed in the code below). I also added HAVE_MEMMOVE 1 to pyconfig.h
Any ideas anyone?
