[SOLVED] Java & x11
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 28, 2014
I am on Ubuntu 13.10. I have two applications [XBMC & XFCE4] between which I switch. Whenever I switch between the applications I restart my X server. THis is because I need to run XBMC as standalone.
I have a Java application which has mouse tracking capability. I need this capability when I am in XFCE. Now when I switch from XFCE to XBMC the Java application crashes.
This is because Java has made connection with X server for Mouse Trackpad capability. How can I make my Java application to not crash in the event that X server is closed and restarted ?
Any Help would be appreciated. Thank u
[SOLVED] java and "app inventor" vs. Linux Mint12 (Ubuntu 11.10)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 10, 2012
Neither "java" nor "app inventor" are specific to any distro or even linux. Regardless, I cannot get "java" running in ways that satisfy the "app inventor" pages.
Can anyone help me sort this out?
I'm running Linux Mint-12 (Ubuntu 11.10) and have all of the various java packages installed. I'm trying to use the Chromium browser with MIT's "App Inventor" tools for building Android apps. I need something really trivial on my 'droid, and App Inventor seems a light weight approach to doing a prototype.
Thanks in advance,

[SOLVED] Java JDK Silent Install Help
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 12, 2011
I am attempting a java.bin silent install using two files.
The bash script is this:
sh jdk-6u20-linux-x64.bin -i silent -f /<location>/installer.properties 1>console.txt 2>&1
sleep 5 #this may be unnecessary, just testing it
The properties file is this:
I am able to bypass the license agreement prompts but when viewing the console.txt output, it looks like the install is waiting for a "yes" to be typed in at the console window. Any advice? Thanks!

I have a PC with SSH server installed and often connect to it from my netbook (both running Sid) with X forwarding enabled. Since the other day when I connect to the PC I receive the message "X11 forwarding request failed on channel 0" and X forwarding no longer works.
On the host Pc I see the following in auth.log:

yes, but in a terminal window, or in a console, or during the boot, or? Have you looked at the log of ssh and sshd? try to increase the log level (DEBUG). I still do not know if ssh was really successful and you can log in with it. Also I would like to see the config of ssh and sshd, maybe something is not set correctly. There a lot of things to check and actually there is no info to work with.
