Hi folks, I'm running mint 12 kde and ubuntu 11.10. I've got a few desktop environments accessible from the login screen on both. Just wondering if anyone had some general advice about how best to do this sort of thing? Also, are there any distros that are better or worse for this?
Hybryde Linux multiple desktop environments Ubuntubased distro.

This is not intended to spark debate but to mention an interesting alternative (or rather several alternatives) to Unity all on one 12.04 based live DVD.
If you're not keen on Ubuntu with Unity desktop environment, you may like to try this live DVD based on 12.04 but with a big difference ...
From Distrowatch “Hybryde Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution for the desktop. Its most unusual feature is an option to switch rapidly between multiple desktop environments and window manager without logging out - the list includes Enlightenment 17, GNOME 3 (GNOME Shell and GNOME 3 "Fallback" mode), KDE, LXDE, Openbox, Unity, Xfce and FVWM. This is achieved via a highly customisable Hy-menu, which also allows launching applications and configuring the system. All open applications are carried to any of the available desktops. The system offers an interesting way to work fluidly in a multi-desktop environment.”

[SOLVED] Trying to install Arch Linux through USB
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 3, 2012
First I tried Unetbootin, the error received (before the installation screen and at the time of booting only)was:
Error /dev/disk/by-label/' device didn't show after 30 seconds
Then, I used Universal USB Installer and then the error received was "could not find kernel image : boot/syslinux/whichsys.c32
I tried to solve the problem as advised at their site i.e. http://www.pendrivelinux.com/error-c...l-image-linux/ but it wasn't any help really.
Well that's it this is my post, straight out looking for help.

[UBUNTU 13.10] Question about multiple desktop environments
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 15, 2013
Ever since Ubuntu made the jump to Unity, I like a few other Ubuntu users decided to leave in search of a new distro to try and fill this void. I've jumped to GNOME2 forks like Mint (MATE), to Fedora and its use of the GNOME Shell, to some XFCE distros and even the new ElementaryOS distro. Ever since GNOME made the jump to GNOME3 it seemed that the number of desktop environments have jumped.
Now I am back to Ubuntu, wanting to give 13.10 a spin on the 17th. My question to you guys is if it would cause any issues if you download multiple desktop environment over Unity like Gnome Shell, xfce and others? Also a while back (like 2009) I had a Fedora Live DVD that came with Gnome, KDE and various codecs is there something similar for Ubuntu builds?
