[SOLVED] problem with "./configure prefix=usr/local/apache enablemodule=so"
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 29, 2009
Using Ubuntu 9.04 on a partitioned hard drive installation.
I'm trying to set up Apache as part of a LAMP setup. My book told me to use that command as part of compilation process, right before "make", but when I run that command, I get this:
Warning: Your 'echo' command is slightly broken.
It interprets escape sequences per default. We already
tried 'echo -E' but had no real success. If errors occur
please set the SEO variable in 'configure' manually to
the required 'echo' options, i.e. those which force your
'echo' to not interpret escape sequences per default.
using installation path layout: Apache (config.layout)
Obviously, I'm a Linux newbie. I have not a clue what all that means, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.
P.S.- Is my Apache corrupted?

location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 14, 2011
I loaded PlayOnLinux.
I then loaded Angry Birds directly from here: http://shop.angrybirds.com/products/angry-birds-pc
I got these instructions via email:
Thank You for purchasing Angry Birds - PC Version. Your personal Activation Key is: ****-****-****-**** You can download the game from: http://drm-pc.angrybirdsgame.com/?dl=abc. Please follow the installation instructions here http://shop.angrybirds.com/pages/pc-installation-guide. Once installed, click "Activate Full Version" button, and enter the activation key into the pop-up dialog. Note that the key is case sensitive. If you have any questions, please see Frequently Asked Questions here http://shop.angrybirds.com/pages/pc-faq.[/SIZE]
After starting up the game using PlayOnLinux, I clicked on the icon to Activate Full Version.
To my dismay I was booted completely out of the game and actually had to do a force quit to get my screen "unlocked".
When I say unlocked, the pointer would disappear if
[SOLVED] Problem with Broadcom Gigabit Integrated Ethernet Card in RHEL 5.4
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 1, 2010
I recently bought a machine from Dell. It came with Windows7. But I wanted to install RHEL5. So I reformatted to RHEL5.4. And now it doesn't detect the netowrk card. The network card seems to be Broadcom 57XX Gigabit Integrated Ethernet Card (as per the Dell support website and the drivers and utilities CD). Also, Dell support said they don't have any linux driver for this. I googled around but couldn't find a solution to install the driver for this card.
1. How do I know what is the exact card?
2. How to install driver for this card?

[SOLVED] Problem with dual boot UBUNTU 10.04Windows 7:no such device no such partition
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 20, 2010
I have 2 drives, in one is Ubuntu, in other is Windows 7.
First i had only Win7 on 1th disk, then i installed Ubuntu( on hard drive 2) and it was so nice so i delete Win7.
But now i need to use something under Win7.
I had installed it on 1th drive, but then only windows can be used.
If i change my drives( physically- change data cables on motherboard)- then Ubuntu is loaded, but in GRUB menu then i try to load Win7 error appear:
NO such device XXXXXXXXXXX( as i understand- UUID)
No such partition
What should i do?
I assume 3 options:
a. Make Grub( i think in UBUNTU 10.04 it is Grub2) load Win7( i prefer this option)
b. Make Windows loader able to load Ubuntu
c. Install other loader( Lilo etc).
I am absolutely newbie.
[SOLVED] Problem with Apostrophes/Quotes
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 8, 2008
I have a problem that whenever I hit the apostrophe key/quote key I have to hit space before I get either the apostrophe/quotation. If I hit apostrophe without hitting space it adds it on top of the next letter: éáćóúáńŕ and so on. I have changed my keyboard model setting to the Generic 105-key (Intl) PC and I have the layout as USA.
The problem is, I have to switch between this layout and another keyboard model (say Hewlett-Packard since my computer is an HP) every single time I restart my computer. No matter what keyboard model/layout it's on, every time I restart the apostrophe/quotes get messed up again so I have to change it again.
Does anyone have any problem like this where your quotes/apostrophes are buggy and changing your keyboard model/layout is only a temporary fix until you restart?
[SOLVED] Problem with running executables with WINE
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 28, 2012
I have no trouble, with my installation of WINE, with navigating to my Windows XP partition, right-clicking on a Windows executable and "opening" it with WINE. Okay, so sometimes the file won't run (at least not straight up like that), but it works on some things.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a friend's laptop at the weekend (creating a dual-boot system), because he uses Vista and is fed up with how slow it has become. Having done the basic installing of the updates and the restricted-extras etc, I installed WINE for him because he had a few apps in Windows that he could not do without. At some stage, we'll look at installing Photoshop properly in WINE.
However, I tried to show him that WINE could sometimes run Windows programs straight from the .exe file, and found a small program that I run using Wine on my Ubuntu 11.04. Unfortunately, on running it, WINE started up but after a few seconds gave up. I could not get any .exe files stored on his Windows partition to r
