location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 24, 2012
I have just installed Ubuntu 12.04 in VirtualBox.
I want to update the system.
This is the error message I get:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
I have tried repeatedly but keep getting the same error message. I can reach the Internet with Firefox.
What is the problem?
What should I do?

location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 16, 2012
I'm looking for c++ api example for ncurses programming and needless
to say that it is not available except 7 part snake game development
video on youtube which is a bit difficult for a noob like me to
understand. GNU ncurse 5.9 documentation heading states that it has

I want to print simple output from cpp code inside ncurse console
window and want to use ncurse i/o like printw(),mvwprintw() etc.
with c++ i/o cout to print string or int values such as
cout << intX <<endl;
cout << myObj->intVal<<endl;
and please let us know where the gnu c++ api example for ncurse is
available or where i should look into to get this with your help.
Thanks and regards...

When I compile this server I get the following error:

[SOLVED] Need to install G++ for programming with Qt on Fedora 18
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 14, 2013
I used to be able to program with Qt on an old PC, using the Qt Designer which was included among Red Hat Linux 9 development tools, when G++ was also among the included packages. I have now installed Fedora 18 (along with original Windows XP) on a twin-core Pentium motherboard PC, but both Qt and G++ need to be separately installed for programming on the Fedora Linux system. I have partially installed Qt but could not complete the "make" process owing to error message "g++ not found". Now I need to install g++ to complete the Qt "make" process. Many thanks in advance for guidance and help.

location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 3, 2012
recently i have has configured tunnel in putty for mysql database connection and used it in workbench as a localhost. It was very easy, but since i re-installed the box, there is --skip-networking with the mysqld, that prevents connecting to mysql the old way. I have red that it is preferred to use sockets, but i have trouble to make the tunnel connection.
Is there a tutorial or something how to tunnel the database socket from my linux box via putty or some other software and use it on my dev machine (windows 7 with workbench) ?
Pidgin won't connect to MSN Your MSN buddy list is temporarily unavailable.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 10, 2009
I'm having a strange problem with Pidgin.
A little background: (skipable)
It has always worked fine for me on multiple computers, however my laptop recently wouldn't boot so I did a check disk and a few inode errors were fixed.
The current problem:
XMPP (the only other protocol I use besides MSN) works fine. However MSN does not sign in and gives me the message "Your MSN buddy list is temporarily unavailable. Please wait and try again." and it has given me this message for several days now. It does partially sign in briefly as other locations I'm signed into say that I have been disconnected because I signed in at another location when I try to sign in on the computer in question.
What I've tried thus far:
I've tried to uninstall Pidgin but I cant seem to get it to uninstall enough so that everything is removed. After I reinstall it my accounts are still there (which means those settings have been preserved). I've tried sudo apt-get remove --purge pidgin wit
[SOLVED] Seamless Mode Unavailable
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 14, 2008
Just so no-one else spends too long on this problem.
I have XPSP2 installed as a guest OS in Virtualbox. I also have the Guest Additions installed, but Seamless Mode is greyed out and unavailable on the menu.
I finally solved this problem by reinstalling the guest additions. Perhaps this problem was due to the fact that Virtualbox was updated a few times, and the guest additions went "out of sync"? No idea.
