[SOLVED] ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalad..... Running "genkernel all" does not help
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 5, 2010
Hello forum,
I am running Gentoo with the 2.6.30-r8 kernel.
A few weeks ago I emerged the gentoo sources and then I ran "genkernel all" to compile the new kernel and I did not receive any errors.
I thought everything went well until I emerged the nvidia driver from the Portage tree and I got this error during a self test of the driver:
Code:
[SOLVED] dpkg: error: version 'uname r' has bad syntax: version string has embedd
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 29, 2013
Noticed the above error when upgrading via apt-get on my server. I don't have any problems with the server, no symptoms but the message seems to be consistent so would like to address it.
Google only finds me this http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=369177 link which is a clear bug report on this error but dates back to 2006 and is on an old dpkg version.
The below are the preceding lines output from 'apt-get upgrade', the final line is the end of the upgrade. A 'uname -r' returns "3.2.0-39-generic".
Processing triggers for libc-bin ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place

Please can someone point me in the right direction, maybe I'm googling the

My test machine runs a number of distros plus windows xp. I have recently been experimenting using my test machine to load Mythbuntu onto a usb harddrive to use on my PVR machine (currently Knoppmyth). After a recent install to the usb drive I am unable to start the test machine. I get an error

I have subsequently booted using the Ubuntu 7.10 live CD. I am unable to open the /boot/grub directory on sda3. If I look at the Nautilus file manager it marks the partitions as unreadable. GParted says the same. The problem looks somewhat similar to cedge's a couple of month's ago so I have been trying some of the diagnostics mentioned in his thread.
fdisk -l gives the following: Note, hda1 does not have an os on it.
Code:

255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 1027 cylinders

[SOLVED] cfdisk : FATAL ERROR: Bad logical partition 10: enlarged logical partitions overlap
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 20, 2012
I want to fix my partition without delete it. Is it possible? How? Seems I should run fdisk from live CD, what's the command sequence then?
I'm using Fedora 16. Recently I can't use cfdisk since every time it would give the below warning:
sudo cfdisk
FATAL ERROR: Bad logical partition 10: enlarged logical partitions overlap
Press any key to exit cfdisk
cfdisk works few monthes before.
I've done a lot of google, some thread suggest that maybe it's because of some bad windows partitioner. Partition Magic specified. But what I did use was the one built in Windows. I'm not sure if this is the cause.

[SOLVED] MMC block device driver option selected gives erasescanblock error on jffs2 booting
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 13, 2013
Hello Guys,
I am badly stuck with the final module implementation of my project.
Its a SDCARD implementation into my board. The SDCARD is handled by processor via a SPI interface.
Things go fine, when i configure the kernel with SPI interface enabled and MMC block device driver option enabled And then boot the board with NFS filesystem.
But with the same configuration, when I try to boot with JFFS2 filesystem,
An error like below:
"jffs2_scan_eraseblock(): Magic bitmask 0x1985 not found at 0x00000000:
0x2f02 instead"
occurs, And when i reboot, the kernel image is corrupted with "Bad data CRC".
Have to flash the images again by whole.
But, If i donot select "MMC block device driver option" in Kernel config,
I do not get the above errors.
Please help me solving this error, Or else please explain me the relationship b/w this error and that particular MMC driver option in kernel config.
I am at the end of my big project, debug
