Ubuntu Server 12.04 + Xen Trouble with creating PV Guests
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 15, 2012
Hello!
I'm going nuts on this stuff. Been testing whole weekend without getting it to work.
I can't create DomU's using PV and LVM setup. My testcomputer is old and doesn't support HVM, but I don't want to use that anyway.
My setup is as follows:
Install a clean Ubuntu Server 12.04
Partitioning using LVM:
/boot = ext2 @ 300MB
/ = ext4 @ 6GB
swap = swap @ 1GB
After installation, doing a dist upgrade > reboot.
Then I install Xen using this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Xen
but I change amd64 to i386 as of my old CPU.
I then want to install ubuntu server as ParaVirtualized guest.
As kernel and ramdisk I've been using this mirror:
http://ftp.ds.karen.hj.se/ubuntu/dis...s/netboot/xen/
But also tried others.
I create a LV as told.
My /etc/xen/ubuntu.cfg:
Code:
name = "Merkurius"
memory = 256
disk = ['phy:/dev/Uranus/Merkurius,xvda,w']
vif = [' ']
#bootloader = "pygrub"
kernel = "/var/lib/xen/im

My username is Sudo if that helps.
Thanks a lot,

Tomboy HotkeysIs anyone else having trouble with these?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 15, 2011
I can't get Tomboy's hotkeys to work, either the default ones or the ones I've set. I've tried changing them to different keys, too, but no go. There's a workaround somewhere that suggests mapping
Code:
tomboy --new-note
to a key combination, but that won't work if there's already a tomboy instance running.
This is all compounded by the fact that in Unity, I can't click on the Tomboy panel icon. I can click on the Network Manager icon, and then move my mouse over to the Tomboy icon, but it's a pain.
All I want to do is be able to press Ctrl+Alt+N and get a new Tomboy note, but I can't seem to be able to make that happen. Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me? Are there settings I can try to revert (i.e. by deleting some configuration file somewhere) that could rectify this problem?
Having trouble with .ISO images
location: linux.com - date: May 31, 2010
Greetings all,
I have used Unetbootin and universal usb installer to make a bootable flash. I get around 51 errors with both programs. They successfully install the Ubuntu stuff on the flash, but it will not work upon boot up. I have an Acer net book, and I have updated my BIOS. My only guess is that I somehow got a bad .ISO image. Thus the errors in both flash boot programs. How does this occur and how can I get an ISO image without errors. I have already downloaded the ISO multiple times to correct the issue, but it still refuses to work. Could it be another issue?
Thank you in advance
Andy
Port Forwarding trouble with iptables on ubuntu gateway
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 14, 2008
I have a template for an rc.DHCP.firewall script that allows a person to setup a router that performs masquerading and, ideally, will forward ports 22, 80, etc to my local server.
EVERYTHING works (ie, there are no errors from iptables, and clients are able to view internet fine), but when i try www.elgrandomain.com, it says "Connection failed. Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection."
can anyone help me fix my script please?
here's my script.
Code:
please wait...
