[SOLVED] installed dwm lost login screen
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 15, 2015
I installed dwm off of slackbuilds 14.1 then logged out to log into dwm under a user name, my screen went "blank" with just my mouse pointer showing. I rebooted because I did, then when I came back it just booted up to the same screen. I had to switch to a different tty then logged in. ran xwmconfig picked dwm under my user name (not root) and it worked just fine. then I switched to another tty and logged in root and startx xfce4 starts just fine.
what is the login screen name thing and how can I get rid of it, or fix it, or know how to do both?

vnc server launched via ssh = gray screen. Local terminal vnc = ok
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 14, 2015
When I launch vncserver via ssh, vnc viewer only shows gray screen and X cursor.
When I launch vncserver via local terminal, vnc viewer shows the desktop fine. It works, other than an immediate error message-
GDBus.Errorrg.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Error.Failed: An authentication agent already exists for the given subject
Any idea why I can't launch vncserver properly through ssh remote terminal?

[SOLVED] wont load OS; can I boot linux onto my computer
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 28, 2011
My computer(win xp) crashed. When I turn it on I get the flickering line. If I press F2 while the BIOS is loading I can access the BIOS setup, but no operating system will load. I am not very familiar with BIOS. I put a cd in the cd drive that contained the latest download of Ubuntu and told it to reboot. Nothing happened. Setup says my CD-drive is set to a secondary drive. I looked in the CD files and I saw the windows installer (wubi). Is there a way I can boot linux?
[SOLVED] Cannot load GUI desktop in Solaris 11.1
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 13, 2013
I downloaded Solaris 11.1 (Text install for x86) from here and installed it on VMware. Now after finishing installation, I rebooted the system, and it goes into single user mode and cannot load GUI desktop. I am stuck and don't know how to load desktop?
I have chose 'no network' for this installation.
Does Solaris 11.1 (Text install for x86), that having size 585 MB, has no GUI packages associated with it? or I need to download it seperately?
Also please help me to choose correct fully loaded version of Solaris 11.1 for VMware (version 7.1.6).

MBA Gray screen of death while using adb with usb connection [closed]
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
I was using my Mba'13 for 2 years to develop android. After i upgraded to El Capitan i started to facing a issue with the adb. When i use adb for any purpose (Android studio itself for catlog or adb shell via terminal) my mac just goes gray screen of death, and i get a log which states kernel panic with exception on iokit. I don't know if its phone related or OS related because i get my Note 5 same time as i upgraded. And its kind of random thing to happen. E.x. i can work for hours without a problem but sometimes it just reboots as fast as i plug in the usb cable. there is no problem on adb over wi-fi.
