Suse 10.1. Repositories and HOWTO
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 14, 2006
There are two stickies about Yast sources, but the thing is that in SUSE 10.1 things have changed dramatically.
It's now all about RPM metadata/YUM sources and not Yast sources anymore. Also the new suse has given us new tools to manage rpm packages and software installation, so I decided to write you a guide for the tools and about adding new sources.
If you scroll down, you will also find the servers and mirrors to add.
Feel free to comment and add other sources, if you find more.

1.2.) Expert Mode

- Pay extra attention to the paths, when adding servers manually :
Software repositories in Suse 10.1
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 2, 2006
I recently switched from Kanotix to Suse 10.1. When searching for packages in the software installation tool I find that a lot of packages are missing. Looking in YaST>Software>Installation Source I find the following source: Name = YUM, URL = http://suse.cbn.net.id/i386/update/10.1. Are there any other repositories that work well with Suse 10.1 and are more complete?

Codeweavers Cross Over for Linux
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 10, 2012
I have an ASUS N61JV-X2 notebook PC with 8.00 GB of dual-channel 1,066 MHz PC-8500 DDR3 SODIMM RAM and an Intel 2nd Generation 2.5" MLC NAND FLASH X25-M 160.00 GB Solid State Drive running Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit Long Term Support GNU/Linux as my default operating system of choice. Recently, I decided to download and install Codeweavers' Cross Over for Linux 64 bit. I plan to purchase a one year license subscription for $59.99 USD tomorrow morning. Cross Over for Linux has solved a lot of my problems. I was able to install and use Intuit Quicken Deluxe 2011 as well as Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus 64 bit without any problems. I was also able to download and install Zinio Reader 4, Amazon Kindle for PC, Google Picasa 3, and Google Earth. Most of these third-party specialized software applications only work for Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, and 7 or Apple Macintosh OS X Tiger, Snow Leopard, or Lion 64 bit. Codeweavers' Cross Over for Linux is much less expensive than purchasing
AIGLX 3d Desktop effects on Suse 10.1
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 25, 2006
I have an Acer TravelMate 290 laptop that has some kind of intel graphic card that only works AIGLX 3d desktop effects not XGL. It works out of the box and perfectly on Mandriva One 2007 on my laptop using AIGLX (it doesn't allow you to use XGL), but I don't like Mandriva I prefer Suse.
I have something called compiz and other stuff installed on my laptop it only allows you to use XGL not AIGLX, XGL doesnt work properly on my laptop, the window bar doesnt show up and its a bit slow.
So does anyone know how to get AIGLX 3d desktop effects working on Suse 10.1.

Suse 10.1 on USB Drive with Windows
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 19, 2006
Alright. I had Windows installed on this computer, I plugged in a USB drive, I booted from the Suse 10.1 installation DVD. It recognized my USB drive and allowed me to install to it. It boots to it if I tell it to. If I disconnect the USB drive, Windows won't boot (Grub Error 21). I know how to fix the error 21, but I want it to boot to the USB drive on another (identical) computer. Our campus has all of the same computers, so they all have the exact same hardware and software. It just seems that it's putting the bootloader on the Windows partition rather than my USB drive
So... how do I get the bootloader (Grub or Lilo, whichever is most likely to work) on the USB drive? I read something about chroot and grub (hd tab something or other with a ) floating in there somewhere, but I don't know much beyond that. I'm pretty new to Linux and I'm learning using the USB drive... so could I get (idiot proof) step by step instructions on what to do?
Why upgrade to Suse 10?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 13, 2005
When 9.3 pro is so good?
I've got 9.3 on my amd64 and old laptop (32bit).
It's got a nice KDE, all my dev apps running ('cept oracle), nvidia driver enabled, office 2 is good, shared network printer ok, runs my laptop wireless card, is happy with my camera, plays my MP3 and DVDs and lets me plug in my guitar to my creative audigy card and mess about with Audacity, and has some cool games too.
The only thing it doesn't do is archive/copy DVDs and support Sony Atrac for NetMD, which isn't likely in future on any verions of Linux.
So whats the big sell point for 10? (note, I'd don't have an iPod or bluetooth phone)

http://en.opensuse.org/Download points to everything thats available. There is no mention of an eval DVD for 10.1. The free download includes a 6th CD image for the add-ons one used to have to hunt for on the web. Perhaps there won't be an eval DVD this time, it isn't really needed.
