Linux Mint: Installing deb package with app name same as other software

I'm trying to install nemo file manager (not the Mint product) - it is a document handling app that uses a calendar like system to manager your documents and files. But the name conflicts with Mint's Nemo File Browser. So how do I install it?
It's listed on the top 100 open source gems for linux at linux website. that's where I found it.
Trouble installing samba 8.04 Turnkey Linux OpenVZ container

I wasn't sure where the best place to post this issue would be but I decided to post here and see how we go. If I don't have any joy here I'll try elsewhere and post back with my progress. I am currently having trouble installing samba on a container running under OpenVZ (Proxmox).
I have spent a heap of time searching the net and I can't find anyone with a problem just like mine (probably because I have a unique hacked together setup).
Firstly a bit of background:
Basically I am a Linux noob but fairly tech savy and a bit of PC admin experience (although mostly on Windows).
My hardware OS is Proxmox 1.3 (a virtualisation environment based on Debian Lenny running KVM-86 and OpenVZ).
My VM is a hacked together template that I made myself (from Turnkey Linux Core - based Ubuntu 8.04LTS) running in an OpenVZ container.
As I was saying a pretty unique hacked together setup!
I have done a fair bit of testing and haven't had any problems like this (that I haven't been able to fix). I hav

Linux MINT 14 w/ MATE, installing to a USB (diary)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 3, 2013
I'm writing this post to document my experience with installing Linux MINT 14 w/ MATE onto a system with no file storage other than a USB stick. I have the notion to update this thread as things go.
I made the following USB-tuning changes upon install: http://aandreasen.wordpress.com/2011...-memory-stick/
I am taking the viewpoint of trying to use MINT's default setup, and default offerings first.
First issue was getting SKYPE working, which was hindered by fact that the System Manager did not have the correct sources, and when it failed with no explanation, did not update itself to find the new packages. (that thread /solution is here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...te-4175446470/ )
Second issue is connecting my phone to the system. The first obstacle was when I tried to access the storage on the phone, I got something along the lines of:
Can't mount partition. Adding read ACL for uid 1000 to /media/' failed: Operation not supported.
I got around that with (from

If you want to keep all your digital data synced across multiple devices, one why to do this is to use Insync which is a client tool for Google Drive file storage and sync service. Google Drive Client For Linux Beta2 has been just released and this short how-to describes its installation and basic usage on Linux Mint. Although it should be also applicable for any decent Debian/Ubuntu like Linux systems.

Trouble installing linux lite
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 26, 2013
Hello everyone! I've recently had to sell my pride and joy, my mac. And I only have enough money to to replace it with an Acer Aspire One. I'd quite like to run linux lite on it, but I'm having a problem that I can't find a solution to. I have linux lite burnt to a dvd. When'start linux' I boot from the dvd drive, it shows a linux loading screen, but then displays an error message which says something along the lines of "iormap error, requested 0x10, got 0x0" (this isn't the entire message, it comes and goes pretty quickly. I can get the full message if required, it wil just take me a while, because I'll have to boot it 3 or 4 times to jot it all down). Ater it has shown this message, the linux lite menu shows. When I select 'start linux' the desktop loads, but the bottom of the desktop is halfway up the computer screen, so I can only see half of it. I tried deleting the linux lite iso from my computer, downloading it again and putting it on a new disc (just to make sure), bu
