Installing Adobe Digital Editions using WINE
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 19, 2008
At present Adobe Digital Editions does not support LINUX with a promissed version due in the future.
I need to run Adobe Digital Editions (DE) to make use of an academic website (Athens) that uses the DRM elements of DE to loan out articles to the user for a defined period of time.
Two pre requirements of DE when running on Vista are: Adobe Flash 9.0 and Adobe READER 8.0. I have got both these running using the linux versions of the software.
I had hoped to run DE using WINE, but I am figuring that as the application is a Rich Internet Application (RIA) it does not download and install as a normal .exe file.
Any clues or help? Are their any alternatives?

location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 25, 2010
I'm am new to Linux, but I really want to get into it. I recently downloaded Ubuntu, with Windows Vista dual booting. I am fed up because Ubuntu won't work with my Broadcom BCM4312 Network Connector. I have decided that I am going to install Linux Mint inplace of Ubuntu. The only thing I am worried about is: Will Mint give me the option of which partiton to put it on? I know this sounds stupid, but I am being very cautious about not deleting my files and Vista.

Grub 22 error using dual boot of Win7 and Linux Mint
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 28, 2009
I recently loaded linux Mint as a dual system to Windows 7
It was workin ok and I was able to boot into either Linux Mint or Windows 7 from the Mint Grub Loader page. Today I attempted to boot up my Laptop which is a Fujitsu Amilo Li2727 only to obtain a Grub 22 Error. This error prevents me from loading any program via Cd or Usb and prevents me getting into the Bios. I removed the hard drive and investigated its contents which should have had two partitions on it ie "C" with Windows 7 and "D" with Linux Mint on it. However The "d" partition is now empty and a seach has revealed no grub entries on the disk which suggests that the grub is located with the bios. I have replaced the hard drive back into the Laptop. I have downlooaded a copy of SUPERGRUBDISK but am unable to use it or a usb floppy drive to change the Msb. Can anyone offer me help?

After installing linux mint, all I get is a black screen after login
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 14, 2009
I'm a newbie to this so sorry if I'm asking a simple question.
Ok so I installed Linux Mint v7 (64bit) on my desktop (Nividia GeForce 9800GT 512mb, AMD Phenom x4 9550...2.2Ghz quad core, 1.25TB of disk space, 4GB of RAM). I completely installed it, it restarted I ran it and logged in and than it went to a black screen where I could only see my pointer. I restarted ran recovery mode, made sure there weren't any broken packets and tried again...it didn't work.
What do I need to do for this to work?
Installing .exe files using Wine?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 17, 2011
I downloaded the .exe file for the starshatter game demo, but when I right click on it and select "Open With Wine Windows Program Loader", A message appears saying:
Blocked: wine start /unix
The file '/home/bryancm/Downloads/StarshatterDemo.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.
I know the program isn't dangerous, but what am I doing wrong. How do I install the exe with WINE? Thanks for any help. God bless and God speed.

In this HowTo I will describe how to prepare a Scientific Linux 6.3 server for OpenVZ. With OpenVZ you can create multiple Virtual Private Servers (VPS) on the same hardware, similar to Xen and the Linux Vserver project. OpenVZ is the open-source branch of Virtuozzo, a commercial virtualization solution used by many providers that offer virtual servers. The OpenVZ kernel patch is licensed under the GPL license, and the user-level tools are under the QPL license.
