Ubuntu 11.04 Gnome Nautilus "No templates installed"
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 1, 2011
In Nautils, when I right-click, and go to "Create Document", it says "No templates installed".
Searching, I found a thread from 2006 about this. The solution was simply to create some empty Office docs and put them in ~/Templates. I tried created an empty spreadsheet and writer documents and put them in my home directory in the Templates folder. That didn't change anything.
So, what am I missing?
Sorry, I'm new to Ubuntu, I've been doing Gentoo for years but finally got tired of updates breaking everything and it taking forever to fix it

Sound Blaster Audio card is installed since motherboard sound was fried during a thunderstorm (doesn't work on either Operating System).
Any help would be appreciated.
Ubuntu 11.04 gnome issues with dual monitor and panel applets
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 29, 2011
Just upgraded a dual monitor install of ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04, reverted to ubuntu-classic (gnome desktop), changed to metacity window manager, but the panel applets (clock, window liet, notifications etc..) only run on ONE of the two screens (:0.0 and :0.1), the other screen they always crash when I try to add them to the panel.
how do i get applets to run on BOTH screens at the same time like they used to.

Ubuntu 11.04 Installing Problems No Backlight
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 29, 2011
I am having a problem. There is no backlight in ubuntu 11.04. I know many have these problems but I cannot find a right solution. This the only time I encountered this problem, no problems in installing 9, 10.04, and 10.10.
First, I used a CD to install natty. I boot on the CD but after seeing Ubuntu 11.04 with loading dots for less than a second my screen went blank. Then I used a live usb but there's an error something. After reading some posts, they said it is only in the backlight. So I boot using the CD and went outside to see my screen clearly and boom I saw Try Ubuntu and Install Ubuntu. I clicked Try Ubuntu. Then my screen went blank and now I cannot see anything.
What is the solution for this one?
My system is:
Acer Aspire 4736
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Chipset
Edit: I have installed Ubuntu 11.04...but what is the use if I can't see my screen
Ubuntu 11.04 Gnome Shell "Could not update ICEauthority file /home/user/.ICEauthority
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 1, 2011
I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 with Unity as the default desktop environment, but I wanted Gnome 3 instead. So the installation of Gnome 3 and Gnome Shell went through, and I'm presented with a nice "gnomeish" gdm, but when I type my user password and try to log in all I get is this:
Could not update ICEauthority file /home/pontus/.ICEauthority
And all I can click is a button that logs me out.
I've tried from the terminal to change owner and rights and I've even tried to delete the file, but I still get this dialog every time I log in.
Is there something else I can do and what may cause this strange problem?

[SOLVED] Installed Ubuntu 11.04 on IBM Thinkpad T43 with no GUI
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 29, 2011
I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on IBM Thinkpad T43 but I have no GUI. Everytime when I boot the system it goes directly to command line interface. Is it because the driver issue or the laptop is to old? The run level stays always in N 2. Thank you all.
