Ubuntu 12.04 reporting RAID is degraded at every boot
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 21, 2012
Hello, first time poster on the forums here.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 desktop as a file server for my network. I have a 160GB drive containing the OS and 3 500GB drives making up a software RAID 5. I am using samba to share the RAID across my network and everything there is going swimmingly.
However, I noticed that my RAID path changed from /dev/md0 to /dev/md127 mysteriously and I suspect that is the cause of Ubuntu constantly informing me the RAID is degraded at boot. Disk Utility does not report an errors in the array.
Is this something you all can help me clear up? I want to be able to use the server headlessly which of course would be difficult if I have to tell the OS to boot with a degraded array each time.
Thanks in advance for your help, I'm new enough to Linux that quirks like this are fairly baffling.
Ubuntu 12.04 Package Configuration Error Page
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 25, 2014
Ever since I re-installed Ubuntu 12.04 recently, I always see this so-called Package Configuration error display when I try to install any software package from the command line. It just would not go away and I can't make it go away. I realize that it must have been caused by some incorrect commands issued by me.
I'll appreciate any help from this forum.

sudo apt-get install k3b

Have installed Tryton from Ubuntu 12.04 software center now what?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 10, 2013
I would like to make a clean break from Windows and the only thing preventing me from doing so is Quickbooks Pro -- which I use for my business. I am attempting to install Tryton to see if I can migrate my accounting package.
I have installed all of the modules found in the Ubuntu software center, but have stalled there. I attempted to follow the instructions on Tryton website for "Setup and Start" but got nowhere.
Setup a Database and User System
$ sudo su postgres -c "createuser --createdb --no-adduser -P tryton"
$ sudo useradd tryton
came back as bad command.
I am hoping someone can provide a newbie some clear steps to follow to begin to use Tryton to see if it would be a suitable alternative for Quickbooks Pro.
Thanks.
Ubuntu 12.04 Update Manager error
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 10, 2014
Every time I open the Update Manager, I keep getting this error:
(Please disregard my bad editing skills, lol)
I recently installed Maxthon as my main browser, and it's working perfectly, as I'm using it right now. Would re-installing it help? Thanks for the help. This error is preventing all other updates I may have. It will search for updates, then show this error, and the only option I have is to close it.

Ubuntu 14.04 Software Updater error 'an attempt to commit /etc changes to bzr failed'
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 23, 2014
Running Ubuntu 14.041 x64 (upgraded from 12.04) on Dell Latitude E600 series.
When I try to apply recommended updates - specifically those under 'Ubuntu base' I get the error:
(Window title: Debconf on mymachinename)
An attempt to commit /etc changes to bzr failed.
You may manually resolve the issues with the uncommitted changes before continuing.
At the same time, in the details of the Software Updater window, I show
Code:
bzr: warning: skipping /etc/X11/core (larger than add.maximum_file_size of 20000000 bytes)
Committing to: /etc/ [0] - Stage 1/5
bzr: ERROR: No changes to commit. Please 'bzr add' the files you want to commit, or use --unchanged to force an empty commit.
Any ideas on how to proceed would be much appreciated - happy to do the work but just not sure what 'the work' is. For example, I'm not familiar with bzr (I know it's a version control utility used by Ubuntu for updates and such).
Thanks in advance!
Not able to install anything in Ubuntu 12.04 Software Center
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
As displayed in below image, I am having trouble in installing any software in ubuntu 12.04 software center. I am not able to cancel the 1st process ("searching"), though I have many times clicked to cancel it. And because of that process, I am not able to install any other packages.
If I try to install anything from the terminal I get
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
How can I get rid of this situation??
