[SOLVED] How can one install Ubuntu 12.04 in spite of "internal error" during first install?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 20, 2012
I tried several times to install ubuntu 12.04 on my PC (specs see in my signature). I could determine the layout of the partitions, then format them and start the installations proper. After 53% - 57% of files copied I get a popup like so: "An internal error occurred. Possibly more information can be found in /var/log/messages".
/var/log/messages is not (yet) there, it is a multiboot installation with two openSuSEs and Fedora, thus I can check. This happens with 32 and 64 bit ubuntu from two different (download)-sources. I could install 12.04 on my Acer Aspire One 722 netbook from the same stick.
So up to now I stay behind with no clue at all . I could install 11.10 some time ago on the PC. Any ideas how to proceed from here?
Unable to boot Windows after installing Ubuntu 12.04 error: invalid efi file path

I have a Laptop (ASUS X310A, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 to be side by side with Windows 7 but I seem to have gotten a problem with booting Windows 7. I used the Boot Repair twice with no results.
Boot-Repair info: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1417623/
The error I get when starting Windows 7 from GRUB is: error: invalid efi file path
In Boot Manager or Menu, I have 3 options now: 2x for Ubuntu (maybe cause I did boot-repair twice) 1x Windows boot manager (If I boot this it opens "ASUS Preload Wizard", it gives me the option to re-install windows losing all previous data -)
When I was making the partition before installing Ubuntu, I made the new partition by making sda4 smaller and adding ext4 mounted: "\" and adding a swap area. Installed it and it didn't work, nothing worked. So i booted Ubuntu from the USB again and deleted the partitions I made and decided to make sda3 smaller and making the partitions but this time it gave me the option that I

Ubuntu 12.04.2 new install System error message Password requested !
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 5, 2013
Hello I am a newbie and have just installed ver 12.04.2. and am suspiscious of a dialogue appearing on a blank desktop "System error detected" I press OK and another dialogue asks me for my password to access the system error.
My suspiscions result from prior instal of ver 12.04.1 (which I have replaced with 12.04.2). The update manager on ver 1 advised there were over 300 updates to download upon install. After responding to an authentication request for a password, only some of the number of the updates were downloaded. SUSEQUENT use of the update manager did not ask for my authentication even after a system reboot.
Am I just imagining a SECURITY problem when the ver.12.04.2 asks for a password on an unexplained system error?
Thanks
Gordon.
[SOLVED] Package manager error on ubuntu 12.04
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 26, 2012
hey, so I posted a little while ago on a package manager error I have. it is keeping me from doing any kind of apt-get or any kind of updates.
i already tried running apt-get install updates in terminal but not getting anywhere with it.
this is what I got with the sudo apt-get install apt-get install updates.
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-updates_multiverse_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or open
if I delete the file above would that remove the package manager or what would the consequences be?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
System Error Detected Why on Ubuntu 12.04 Boot?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 21, 2012
I often get a "system error detected" error message when I boot Ubuntu 12.04. It then asks me to send info for debugging but this never works. However the message clicks off usually but it is a nuisance. How do I either get rid of the message or find a "fix" for whatever the error is?
I made a recent fresh install of Ubuntu and have all updates installed.

when i try to update my system error occurs as sytem package is broken.
when i run autoremove following error occurs

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

linux-headers-generic-pae : Depends: linux-headers-3.2.0-30-generic-pae but it is not installed

on running the command with -f
the same error occurs with the message as disk full.
on running df command

Hi,
I have a Ubuntu Server that I don't use much but I built it from scratch so I keep it on my network. I turned it on recently and installed all the upgrades, which resulted in version 12.04 LTS. Ever since, I see the following error after booting and I'd like to know how to fix it or at least stop it from happening.
Sorry, Ubuntu 12.04 has experienced an internal error.
If you notice further problems, try restarting the computer.
ExecutablePath
/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test
The available options at this point are:
Send an error report to help fix this problem
Ignore future problems of this type
I have tried both yet the error persists. I have searched this forum and have found some good information, but I would like some real time guidance.
Another windows appears as well that is labeled Apport at the top. It says, 'precise' is no longer under development, but technical support is still available and will give you quicker results than filing a bug here. Also, if
