location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 17, 2013
I am new to KVM but willing to learn.
I have set up an VM using Linux Mint Cinnamon 15 as my guest. The problem I am having is the Vm Linux Mint Cinnamon 15 will only run in "Software Rendering Mode" The text in the terminal console is unreadable. The same with pop up menus.
Host Is Ubuntu 13.04 raring x86_64
AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 450 Processor × 3
8 Gig Ram 320 GB Hard Drive
Graphics Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS780
Happy to supply log files but do not know which to supply.
Any help is appreciated.
Does Ubuntu 13.04 + Cinnamon = Linux Mint?

I know Mint is built upon Ubuntu. So, if you take Ubuntu 13.04 and add Cinnamon, is that the same as Linux Mint or is there more to Mint then just Cinnamon?
Cinnamon running in software rendering mode while Unity and Gnome work fine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 15, 2013
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 32bit with Intel Atom CPU N2800 and GMA3600 graphics chipset (Lenovo S110). I have the drivers "Intel Cedarview graphics driver" and "drm driver for the Intel GMA500" both "activated and currently in use" in the Additional Drivers window. Unity and Gnome work perfect, but when logging in with Cinnamon it runs in software rendering mode, not recognizing the graphics driver.
This Intel graphics chipset have a really bad support for linux and the proprietary and outdated driver will only work with this kernel version (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_GMA3600).
Thanks in advance, any help is really appreciated.
LXer: How To Get Amazon Prime Instant Video Working in Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail/Mint 15 Olivia L

A major issue I have had since returning to the Linux distros such as Ubuntu and Linux Mint has been that my Amazon Prime Instant Video has ceased working by default with the Linux version of Adobe Flash. I was constantly being told that I needed to update my Adobe Flash Player by Amazon Prime Instant every time I tried to play a video.
Ubuntu 13.04 vs Linux Mint 15

Hi. My friend has an older netbook (it's a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012). The HDD on said netbook had crashed and he just bought a new HDD for it. Anyway, he needs to (obviously) install an OS on it and I volunteered to do it for him. He's a Windows user and is actually rather happy with it, but the problem is he no longer has his Windows product key. The problem is that he's pretty broke and doesn't have the money to buy another copy of Windows so I pointed out that Linux, being open source, is free. He's going to contact Dell and try to get a recovery disk out of them. Personally, I think a snowball has a better chance in h***. So I'm planning on installing Linux for him. I should probably mention that I use Ubuntu because that was the first distro that I tried and had no problem with Unity. Also, I'm kind of lazy and I can't be bothered to install a different distro. I figure that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But back to what I was saying, this switch to Linux is only bec

Ubuntu 13.04 with Cinnamon and black background
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 29, 2013
Sometimes then I log in the background is totally black (except from the top panel and the Avant Window Navigator dock).
Nothing happens then I right-click the mouse on the desktop.
Opening the filemanager Nemo most of times makes the desktop update correctly - sometimes a restart is necessary.
Can this have something todo with it?
It is a great combination otherwise: Ubuntu, Cinnamon and AWN.
If someone has a clue I would be very grateful.
Some unwanted quirks in Ubuntu 13.04 following installation of Cinnamon
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 6, 2013
Hi all, hoping you can help me out with a problem which confuses me.
The other day I installed the Cinnamon desktop environment, alongside Unity. Ever since then I have a few quirks which I would like to be undone and returned to their default behaviour:
1) The dynamic login/lock-screen wallpaper doesn't work any more, by that I mean that whatever I change my desktop background to when logged into Unity, it doesn't change on the login or lock-screen.
2) My lock screen now has a clock on it. I'm pretty sure it didn't have it before.
3) My right click > Change Desktop Background Menu is blank, plus when I click All Settings on that menu it takes it to a different "System Settings" window, which to me looks like Cinnamon's settings window (if I go to the power button in the top-right corner and go to System Settings it is the normal Ubuntu menu).
4) I also have an "Add Desklets" option on my right-click Desktop menu, which I'm sure wasn't there before.
