Ubuntu 14.04 installation failure and unreadable content
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 22, 2014
I came home starting the upgrade process to Ubuntu 14.10. about 1 hour later, I check my computer and I saw that Xorg crashed and I was given an option to restart, so I did. when I rebooted. lightdm started ok and I was able to log in, but My GUI didn't start up and I was left with just staring at my wallpaper. So, i obtained a copy of ubuntu 14.10 on CD, get my files off, and I was going to upgrade manually. but, as I was copying files over, I got some errors saying that some contents were "unreadable" and wouldn't copy over to my SD card. Did my disk drive get corrupted because Ubuntu failed to upgrade or is there a way to still get the data off???

ubuntu 14.04 installation error
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 19, 2014
I had ubuntu 12.04 and tried to update it but that seemed to fail because 13.10 had no icons. I then tried to update to 14.04 and when I turn on laptop I get a black screen. I bought 14.04 and installed disk now it tells me could not find the iso /images/images/trusty.iso help, what I do? I am not a computer genius and need very basic explanations. Any help would be apperciated.

Trying to burn ubuntu 14.04 installation DVD
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 27, 2014
I am trying to install ubuntu 14.04 to an older laptop that has 13.10 on it. I'd like to do a fresh install. The laptop I am currently using has 14.04 and I am trying to burn a DVD for the install to the other one. I have actually done this before (burn an installation DVD) so am a little frustrated that this is giving me trouble. Every step by step direction simply states "find the iso file" and then write that to disk. After the download there are multiple folders and I have spent a lot of time trying to locate "the iso file." Can somebody please explain to me HOW to locate this iso file. They make it sound so simple but I CANNOT find it. or figure out which one is "the iso file" I need to burn.
Thank you!
ubuntu 14.04 installation stuck at boot logo
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 24, 2014
Hi, first let me say that I am very familliar with UNIX and I am far from being a noob, I program in SHELL and Objective-C and I'm not afraid of the terminal.
I have a Dell Inspiron 580, currently running windows 7. I have used ubuntu in the past and really loved it on my previous pc. I saw that it is possible to run recent games with wine and playonlinux, so I want to use linux.
I have used imgburn to make my bootable cd (I used this software to make windows cds and linux cds in the past without problems).
When I boot from the 14.04 ubuntu cd, it simply get stuck at the ubuntu logo, I have waited 45 min without any success. I tried 12.04 wich booted but wifi didn't worked, and I would prefer to use the latest release.

Windows 8.1 Partition not visible in ubuntu 14.04 installation
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
While configuring the partitions in installation of ubuntu, it didn't show any of the partitions I have made in 8.1, neither primary or logical drive nor unallocated space of 50GB (made for ubutu).
How to make windows partitions visible in Ubuntu installation & will 50GB space be sufficient for proper functioning of ubuntu?
[SOLVED] Ubuntu 14.04.1 installation failure on ASUS X551MA
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 14, 2014
I have no idea how to capture the console messages during the installation of Ubuntu 14.04.01 but to type them. So please bear with me typing as many messages as possible. Because this ASUS notebook doesn't have ODD, I prepared Ubuntu14.04.01 on the USB memory stick.
Guessing from the last several console messages, I am wondering whether rt18821ae(wifi) is working correctly.
I couldn't find a way to turn off this wifi module in the BIOS.
Is there way to turn around this problem?
