Ubuntu 12.04 LTS versus LMDE (Linux Mint Debian) 201204?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 25, 2012
http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1979 I'm really having to ponder this one? Mate 1.2, when idle, really does use half as much RAM as Unity. That was a surprise, especially since I'm comparing 64-bit vs. 64-bit. I have yet to notice any of the rough edges and quirks that are typical of a Mint release.
Stability comparision of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Debian 6 Squeeze!
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 10, 2012
I have read a lot about Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and most reviews say its extremely stable. I would like to know your opinions about this. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is without doubt the first Ubuntu edition which is very stable and mostly bug free at release. This is what most reviews say. And if that is correct, give it a year and with updates from Canonical it could be as stable and bug free as Debian 6 is. This is what I think. What you think about this? Am I correct?

I currently have a laptop running Backtrack 5 that I would like to wipe clean and replace with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have the Ubuntu .iso file downloaded to a USB. What would be the best way to go about getting rid of Backtrack 5 and successfully install Ubuntu in its place?

Cannot get the sound to work on a new install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS PPS
- date: June 28, 2013
Hi all from Amsterdam
I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS PPC to my aging 15" Mac PowerBook, (build April 2004) as a last ditch solution to its redundancy. I tried Lubuntu 13.04 ppc as the preferred installation and very quickly came to the decision that it was so riddled with bugs that as an average user, it wasn't worth pursuing. So I ditched that as a waste of time and effort. I've managed to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS PPS and strangely, it appears to be working a lot better and faster than it's Lubuntu sibling. However, there is no sound. Alsamixer is just not there. I've used the terminal to check and it tells me no file or directory.
This is what I have tried so far as dirrected by the Ubuntu Wiki help. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ#W...ve_no_sound.3F.
Checking for alsamixer in terminal:
:~$ sudo alsamixer
[sudo] password for andyinmokum:
cannot open mixer: No such file or directory
"Your system is running in lowgraphics mode'' after Ubuntu 12.04 LTS update
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 29, 2012
I own a Acer Aspire 5552 laptop, which has Ubuntu on it. And now i updated it to 12.04 LTS from 11.10. When i turn the laptop on, it says : Your system is running in low-graphics mode, Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself.
I read about this on Ask Ubuntu already, and it suggested to got to Ctrl + Alt + F1 and reinstall my desktop, or install fglrx. Well, these things what I read on this site : http://askubuntu.com/questions/12545...0-graphics-car
Both of them don't work. And if I don't enter Terminal and just click OK (press Enter, because the mouse cursor isn't there) when it says you system is running in low-..., I get options, but i can't choose any of them, can't even click cancel or OK. My graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. Help please! Thanks
[SOLVED] Is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit available for Intel also ?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 7, 2012
Well i am very much new to Ubuntu, infact i am just going to download it and start using it. However i could not find any 64 release for intel architecture, its only for amd only.
So my question is there any release for intel 64 bit also, if no then would that 64bit amd release work on Intel ? Because if that would not work then i have no choice but to download 32 bit for Intel.

So I have uninstalled version 13.04 and now installed 12.04.lts. Same issue. I was using software center and it just turned off. Now when I log in, within 30 seconds it turns off. I have tried rebooting multiple times and it is still doing the same thing
