BlueZ <= 3.36 and Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS not compatible with new USB bluetooth adapter?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 28, 2013
Hello all, I'm trying to use the Kinivo BTD-400 Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter with Ubuntu 8.04.3 and I'm not having good luck. A user who reviewed the product said it worked with Ubuntu 12.04 out of the box so I'm wondering if my software is just too out-of-date.
I'm running a custom Linux 220.127.116.11 and I configured it for BlueTooth support (HCI USB driver was all that I needed to enable ) and installed the new kernel, but it just doesn't seem to handle the device right when I plug it in...
dmesg seems to confirm that I did in fact enable support in the kernel
Bluetooth Adapter Crashing in Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 4, 2013
I have a Nokia C2-01 mobile phone which I use to connect to the internet. I used to use my data cable to connect to the internet until recently I tried to pair it using bluetooth to connect to the internet. The connection works fine. It has no issues during browsing or anything. But the problem arises in 2 instances :
1) If I try to switch the bluetooth adapter off with an active connection
2) If a connection is refused by the mobile device.
In both these situations, the OS simply crashes and I have to force restart the OS. I was of the assumption that it might be the problem with my mobile phone, but the same happened again with another Sony Ericsson phone belonging to my friend. So I concluded that it is a bug in my Bluetooth Adapter.
I found more issues related to the same Bluetooth Adapter when I decided to post a thread here. The adapter refuses to send or receive files over bluetooth. Nothing seems to happen when I either click the 'Browse Files' option or the 'Send Files' opti

Ubuntu 13.04 No Bluetooth Adapter Found
- date: May 10, 2013
Hi, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 14R(N4010) laptop.
I recently did a wipe of my entire system and installed Ubuntu 13.04.
I had tried the live cd before installing but forgot to check if bluetooth is working.
It was working fine when I tested it in another similar system.
There is no bluetooth indicator in the panel, and in the bluetooth settings, it says "No Bluetooth Adapters Found"
The output of rfkill list is as follows:
:~$ rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
1: brcmwl-0: Wireless LAN

The adapter works well (I am connected through it) but Wireshark's interfaces list is just empty and there is no way to make it work. Can someone help me please?

[SOLVED] [SOLVED] Bluetooth adapter not working 0489:e027 Foxconn / Hon Hai
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 2, 2012
I have a Sony VPCEH laptop with a built-in Bluetooth adapter. This adapter was non-functional in Slack 13.37 and 14, unless I booted windows first - which presumably loaded a firmware to the adapter.
Otherwise it would show me a bt hci interface with a mac address of 00:00:00:00:00 that couldn't be put to use.
This issue has been around for some time, in several distros. See:
Based on the information found in http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/...011_and_AR3012 , I was able to recompile the ath3k and btusb modules to get the Bluetooth interface to spring to life, in Slack.
If you have the kernel source tree, the source for these modules will be in /usr/src/linu/drivers/bluetooth. I copied both source files into the same dir with ".orig" as a suffix.

iPhone OS3.0 and Ubuntu Bluetooth Teathering
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 18, 2009
Yay, Apple now break AT&T strangle hold on the iPhone and you are allowed to tether it where the carrier permits, and here in NZ, Vodafone allows it. 8)
So I have tested this from Windows7RC, Bluetooth pairs up, new adapter installed, I get a new IP Address and the phone acts like a router. Cool. Same on My Mac.
Now I boot to Ubuntu 9.04 - still learning my way around Linux though so please be gentle with me 8)
I got the phone and my laptop to pair, and the phone reports a good connection, but then I am completely at a loss as to how to configure the networking. The Network manager still only shows the wired and wifi interfaces I normally have. Is there a way to setup/configure the bluetooth connection too?
